What really happened is. A man set the White Orchid up to have an affair with the surgeon.
In order to blackmail him. Otherwise when it leaked out he would loose his job with the hospital.
But since they really fel in love (or the White Orchid decided to keep the money herself afterwards).
He lost his control over her (money was the only objective).

That is why he needed to revenge himself. And killed her. In such a way nobody would recognise her.

* Why was there only one picture of her taken from the back? This although totally unrealistic was necessary for the script. Otherwise the viewer would know who she really was.

* She could not have had a double role being the surgeons wife. Spending all her time in the house. And hiding the money from the blackmail. If she could not have blackmailed her own husband.
See?

She really did commit suïcide on the ship.
But since our main actress was getting closer. She could have found out about the set up. That is why also the surgeon needed to die.

The actress hired to stall her had to make her believe the White Orchid was a lesbian. Someone like her.
But since the man setting her up was a man (his voice sounded as such).
He would not have picked a lesbian to seduice the surgeon. Because a character cannot be removed by plastic surgery. Unless she in fact was a man being rebuild and the surgeon a homosexual.
Only married for the outside world.

So in that case the blackmail was to prevent this coming out for his wife.
He would not have been fired from the hospital.
So what is going on here?

I get it. The wigs in the house were there because he was a homosexual man. The old lady he talked to had to be blind, for the script. Because otherwise she would have recognised she was a he.
That is why he felt comfortable to speak with her. But did she not recognise a male voice? The fact she herself had a low base sounding one does not imply anything. Like now she believed all women had such voices (after the picture, second weak spot in the script).
Third one is why after believing the investigator was White Orchid again through her perfume. Wasn't she told she was dead before?

Fourth. Why had the seller of the house not seen she was a man?
(when lesbian she would not have been used to set up the surgeon. because he was a gay man).

So the plot was the man setting him up. Was gay as well.
And used his fortune to attract other men. Because he himself was very ugly.
He tried before to have an affair with the surgeon. To make him look better. But he rejected him.
That is why he had to revenge himself. And find a good looking homosexual willing to play the female role in sexgames.

The mutilation displayed his anger regarding beautiful boys being gay and now even cheeting on him with the money.
Like he did not get the money from the surgeon too. Who rejected him. Rather had a good looking wife as a display for his profession. Since mostly women go to plastic surgeons. He could not use an ugly male partner. Destroying his career.

I’m always amazed how stupid these film makers think the audience is. Very intelligent woman doing dangerous and stupid things. We’re supposed to believe that given a horrible murder, suitcase full of money, a gun, a creepy man leaving creepy messages and this “ intelligent” woman we are supposed to believe would do the dumbest things. 🙄🙄🙄

To people who are praising this movie, it makes no sense why Dr. Barren didn"'t report his wife missing for months??? Why he would pay "white orchid" when his wife is supposedly missing? He had no suspicion at all & didn't bother reporting to police?

10/10. The character of Clare will really frustrate you. She finds a gun, picks it up and leaves her fingerprints all over it!! Then a black car keeps on coming onto the drive and driving off, and she never thinks to take a photo of the number plate to help the police trace it; then she prances around in the dead woman's lingerie - and leaves ALL the curtains wide open. Give me strength!! A really well thought out film but it's a shame the sensational Kathleen Robertson wasn't given the lead role. She was totally wasted in such a small role towards the end of the film.

Movie is Good but has doubts with the script. Will a respectful department ever allow a psycopath girl like this to investigate a murder case like this and allow her to stay at the premices of the victim? She touch and ransack entire equipments and the house of the victim, without any responsibility. She touches everything bear hand, doesn't follow any proper protocol.
And shows off more of her moron nature by caughting in a photo click-dressed in victims clothes-in the middle of victims home.

OK the female investigator was definitely sexy. but in real life completely useless. she had completely forgone the investigetation in favour of having fun in the victim s theatrical life 🤣

So many details don't makes sense: why would the main entrance door of such an expensive upmarket house have an entrance door that rattles and doesn't feel very secure? Why would a young woman put herself in a dangerous situation by being in the house of a murdered woman all by herself even after the has realised that a strange car keeps driving up to the house?

Just started watching. It seemed really promising at first, but it turned out to be tacky, and tawdry, with an incredibly unrealistic ending. Very disappointing. It also made ZERO sense that the poleece hadn't taken any of the personal effects, such as the lipstick, hairbrush, clothes, AND ESPECIALLY THE SEX TOYS to check for any DNA !!

YIKES !! That drawer packed to the brim with dildos is a troubling discovery !! You might think that the poleece maybe should have seized everything in that drawer of naughtiness to test for DNA !!
