The Wolf of Wall Street (2013): The Creation of Stratton Oakmont | Full Scene

Video Overview & Insights

The moment Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) creates Stratton Oakmont and teaches his friends how to sell penny stocks to rich people.

The shaving the head scene most people forgot WHY she did it. End of the month they made 28 million. And there is maybe 75 people in the room. Do the math.
I'd shave my head too. Even though she was just the secretary and didn't make any money off of that's months commission.

In 1987, Jordan Belfort takes an entry-level job at a Wall Street brokerage firm. By the early 1990s, while still in his 20s, Belfort founds his own firm, Stratton Oakmont. Together with his trusted lieutenant and a merry band of brokers, Belfort makes a huge fortune by defrauding wealthy investors out of millions. However, while Belfort and his cronies partake in a hedonistic brew of sex, drugs and thrills, the SEC and the FBI close in on his empire of excess.

The worst person you know is inspired by this movie on a spiritual level.

Censoring the word "dick" off "Moby-Dick" is crazy

2:25 I like the subtle detail where Donny isn't holding the printout. He's already seen it and discussed the plan with Jordan, after all.

This movie was an arduous 3 hour ordeal.

Remember, currency is fictional. Sure, we empower it, we make it "real" the same way we might argue over fictional stories or ideas and concepts, but it remains a sweet, fictional yet physical analogue for power. All these guys did was sell fiction on top of fiction to idiots with the promise of more of that power.

May I ask something? I dont have experience so my question may sound stupid.
If someone calls me like this video, the first question shows up on my mind is: "If this stock is so good, why dont you buy it for yourself, or tell your wife, your brothers, sisters, cousins buy every god damn stock for yourself? Why share this to me?"
I'd respond the same if anyone calls me to offer this and that.
How would they respond in that situation?

I sometimes forget just how good this movie is. The script, the directing, some of the best acting performances of that decade… I think it gets taken less seriously because of all the comedic elements (of which there are a lot), but everything works so well in the movie to tell Jordan’s story. I really believe this movie is on the same level with Goodfellas. It has a similar tone as Goodfellas and borrows some techniques from it, but even still, it is an incredible movie in its own right.

I loved this movie when I was younger but now it strikes my as a glorification of scamming pretending as if it is some high brow social critique. I feel the same way about Goodfellas.
