Many tourists think I've seen Sydney so I've seen Australia but believe me they've barely even scratched the surface of what Australia has to offer. Yes beaches are nice but there's SO much more to Australia than just beaches and city views. To see Australia properly will take you an entire lifetime and a most enjoyable lifetime it will be. In Australia we work to live and we never live for work well we can't for our labor laws dictate how we work and live.

Im in my 60's, lived most of my life in australia, lived on the Northern Beaches for years including Manly, and i have hardly EVER seen anyone walking around in bare feet except at the beach! I dont know why people bang on about bare feet!!?????

RE tractor in sand: the council uses tractors to run catchers and rakes across the sand early in the morning to remove rubbish and dead sea life and anything that’s washed up really

Edit: the red Westpac helicopter looks for sharks or swimmers (or both) it’s a rescue chopper

I live in a small township south of Sydney. Serene and calming. Best beaches are not in Sydney.

That's the ground not the floor... FYI that bird is called a Pluver... Loud and can be aggressive if u get near its nest. I lived in Manly 70s-90 till it got too crowded till I did what everyone else does which was move to Lennox Heads. Coooo-gee is not how u pronounce it its more Could-gee

8 out of 10 for safety, because it is a big city? For a big city, Sydney is quite safe and should get 10 out of 10.

Lived in Aus for 15 years, 8 in Sydney. Was glad to see the back of the place. It's expensive, and the traffic congestion is insane. You'll spend most of your spare time commuting. Getting to beaches on the weekend is a mission in travel planning. Weekend traffic is worse than weekday traffic. The express lane become parking and every man and his dog who normally commutes by train or bus is in their car trying to go somewhere. And public holidays... forgetaboutit. An exercise in futility trying to get anywhere.

Most of us agree that this was the worst summer we ever had, too many rainy days compared to other years

There is no comparison between the average coffee in Australia and the UK. You can find good coffee in the UK but you've got to look hard for it. Mostly in the UK you find large chains that do very average to poor coffee at about twice the price of coffee in Australia, where as in Australia the coffee seen is dominated by individual businesses and small batch roasters and there is very much an artisanal culture surrounding the roasting as well as the barista skills. And please learn to pronounce Coogee properly - the first vowel is not a long 'oo' sound!!

It actually rains more in Sydney in summer than in winter

I grew up in Manly and the penguins have never been in multitudes on the West Esplanade beach.
There is a small colony on the rocky foreshore but you hardly ever see them unless you’re on the water and they’re swimming by you.

Bondi is no where near as nice as Manly, it’s dirty and populated by tourists.

Beach flag zones are not mandatory but the Surf Life Saving Clubs do their best to make you think they are.

The Sydney Rail and Bus network is exceptional and doesn’t really need improvement.

The Bondi shooting was a false flag operation.

The problem with Sydney, and Aus in general, at the moment, is the price of housing.

Sydney rains a heck of a lot! We have a saying "NEVER plan anything outdoors that involve more than a few people'. Why? Because that outdoor BBQ or gathering is 50-80 percent chance of having to be cancelled! We get some periods of 3-7 days straight sunshine but due to low mountain heights the southerly changes are not impeded by topography. This creates super fast shifts from high pressure (sunshine for the most part) to troughs or low pressure systems that roll through. Sometimes the southerly is a swift cooldown (we love those!) most of them are indicators that the next few days will be raining/overcast. Happy travels! P.s - when I visited London it was raining sideways so yeah lol

@phanoonki
@

ahhh!!!! annoying! it is pronounced 'could gee' not coooodgee

It's a totally different place. You can compare it to what you know, but honestly it's not even a comparison. So forget what you know and stop judging it,...and comparing it. Yes it's expansive so is the UK....So judge if rom where it is.
