Dude I’m actually watching this on my birthday and this is stupid. Like requesting your friends not to do basic hygiene just so they don’t look better than you is insane. And wanting to spend so much money just for a gift or spending an unnecessary on your birthday is insane to me. Like me personally I’m not someone to care about how anyone looks at my birthday or how much money is spent.

If I was that man I would get up and say “I’ll take care of it”, go tell the wait staff “I’m covering this amount” and then LEAVE. Those other assholes can decide if they wanna pony up and pay their way or if they’re going to risk a dine and dash. Either way not my problem because they are already blocked by the time I get to my car

bruh, i "celebrate" my birthday each year to actually meet up with all my friends at least once a year and we all just hang out and i provide most of the food but always ask if they could bring something along so the cost is not fully on me. this is a lot nicer than going to a restaurant and also a lot fucking cheaper. what do you MEAN 700$?!?!

8:39 I think it depends on household.. in our family we hold family gatherings on big celebrations and the one who invites pays for the dinner, but everyone discusses who comes and who doesn’t, who holds it and saves money for that. If we don’t have money to go to restaurants we just celebrate at home with homemade meals.
Not that I go out ever, but it feels strange to eat for free…. If someone invited me to restaurant I’d order what I could afford and pay for what I ordered, that’s how restaurants work

On my birthday I go to the aquarium or liek the zoo and there’s an insectarium near where I live too so I splurge the $100 to bring me and my friends to look at some freaking fish 😭we are all dressed in stupid outfits and we go to red lobster after (we get Brussels sprouts and crab legs)

Telling someone to neglect their most basic of hygiene just so they don't "outshine you" ironically REEKS of insecurity, like if I had my friends come to my party I would HOPE they have showered and actually took care of themselves. I remember my mom saving up so my friends and I could all go to a water park for my 13th bday, and it was one of the best bdays I could’ve asked for! Afterwards we all went out for ice cream and one girl was complaining we all couldn’t get dinner?? My mom saved and saved to get us all to a water park and ice cream. Dinner would have been way too much money for her to cover. People in the US (depending where/how you grew up) can be nasty.

Honestly, these people expect so much just for their birthdays but there are also other people out here struggling to barely get by, like me and my family. It's always been hard for me to really have any birthday parties since my birthday falls around or sometimes even ON thanksgiving and everyone is getting ready to spend time w/ their families. Not to mention my parent's anniversary being a week after my birthday. It's not to say that I haven't had parties before, cause I have, but they were always either small ones at our house, or my friends would have to pay for themselves if we had my party somewhere fun. I just cared about the fun of it and not trying to be the best looking one there.

I honestly feel like these types of people are just self entitled bitches that need to learn not to expect everything from someone else.

My long term friend group just cut me off because I got called into work on her birthday.I am covering someone’s bereavement because they loss a parent. I said I would be two hours late but still there, but if it’s a problem I can also try to give the shift away. They yelled and snapped at the entire group cut me off and uninvited me. Said that I should have never been scheduled that day in the first place

In Germany, we mostly invite our friends at home and make the drinks and snacks/meals by ourselfs or every guest is bringing something with them. A birthday dinner at a restraurant is mostly something done by (grand) parents and they pay for the whole family 🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree, my mom had a friend who would pick a super expensive place every time they wanted to go out, and anytime my mom didn’t go (tons of people went) she would call my mom a bitch and say she didn’t wanna be friends anymore.
