In this graph, it seems as if the Dutch Republic emerged out of nowhere. It certainly had a predecessor.
The whole era of the duchy of Burgundy is missing. Conrad II didn’t make it disappaer.
Burgundy was an empire between France and HRE. It’s considered to be the successor of Lotharingia, burgundian dukes ruled the Low countries and eastern France.
Emperor Charles V even was born and grew up at the court of his Burgundian grandmother Mary.

It really does get understated how important historically the Spanish driving Muslim colonizers out of Iberia truly was. The Reconquista allowed for the unification of Spain, religious homogeneity, ocean exploration, and language standardization.

You'll have to update the chart now to reflect that Bulgaria is now part of the Eurozone. They weren't when this video was released, but they adopted the Euro on January 1, 2026, and fully phased out their former currency, the Bulgarian lev, after just a 1 month transition period.

I really think John Locke ought to be mentioned on this chart because his ideas are what the Enlightenment was born from. You do briefly mention that Britain limited the power of the monarchy well before the French Revolution(s) but the reason for this is that anti-establishment free thought existed in Britain hundreds of years before mainland Europe.

I got the chart yesterday. I saw a fault.

The Rurik dynasty has DNA N1a N-M231, pointing to that the Ruriks really are from east Swedish origin.

There is no link from the Vikings to the Rurik line. And also the old Rus said the Ruriks were Scandinavians eg Vikings.

In another chartI saw yesterday, European or Roman royal lines, there is a year right at the bottom left on the chart that was, if I remember correct year 711. Guess it should be 811. As I remember, it had to do with Charlemagne. Must have been the Roman empire royal line chart.

9:13 the term "Roman Catholic Church" is not fully accurate to refer to the entire Catholic Church. although it is a very common, generally understood practice in English-speaking countries to include the word "Roman", the worldwide institution of the Catholic Church which includes both Western and Eastern churches is comprised by 24 distinct, self-governing (sui iuris) churches that all recognize the authority and in full communion with the Pope in Rome. the main Church (Latin Church) is of course the more famous one and the one with the most members that accounts for 98-99% of all Catholics in the world, but theres also 23 other Eastern Churches like the Ukrainian, Greek, Maronite, Syro-Malabar, Syro-Malankara, and Melkite Catholic Churces that albeit only comprise about 1-2% of all Catholics in the world, they are still a part of the Universal Church. Each has its owns distinct liturgies, traditions, and laws. So the more correct and accurate term is the Catholic Church

I feel like at the end you mushed Schengen and the EU into one thing, but the Schengen Agreement actually started as a separate thing with only i think a half of the EEC (EU predecesor) countries joining. Nowadays when a new country joins the EU they also join Schengen in the process even though technically i don’t think it is part of the Copenhagen criteria….

1:43 why you mentioned Ukraine like they history is about ~50 years but other countries from there like Hungary or Poland (rise near from X century) you called East Slaves 😅

I stopped after 3 min 40s. Three enormous mistakes:

1- France did not start with the Treaty of Verdun. It started with the union of the Frankish tribes (salian/ripuarian), the battle of Tolbiac and the conversion of Clovis in 496. Paris was the capital of the Frankish realm/empire for centuries before the treaty of Verdun, and the core of the Frankish population evolved into the French people. This is why the only part of the Frankish realm/empire which refers to the Franks is France. German and Italian territories were conquests of the Franks, not core territories.

2- The HRE was not a state, except during the Ottonian era. By the way, it was neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.

3- The HRE had nothing to do with Germany, since there was no direct continuation between the HRE and Germany. The title of Emperor was hold by the Habsburg during centuries, up to the end of the Empire. They reigned over Austria, which was part of Germany during only 7 years in History. The correct lineages are HRE => Austria and Teutonic order + Brandenburg => Prussia => Germany.

its like you hated Finland, also right at the end you couldnt inclide moldova as splitting from the Soviet Union? or Bosnia and Macedonia from Yugoslavia and then Montenegro from Serbia? OR Cyprus from the Ottomans to British occupation, and Malta from the Napoleonic wars to British occupation? That way have all the countries in Europe except the micronations.

I think that Ashkenazi more specifically refers to the Elsaz-Lauren area rather than whole of Germany. Not sure though
