If any man can lay claim to being Lincoln's best friend, it would be Joshua Fry Speed who kept all the letters and later donated them to the Library of Congress. In one of the letters, Lincoln admonished his friend, Joshua Speed, because Speed had argued that Lincoln should let things be instead of trying to abolish slavery - that as president he should be representing the entire nation and not just the views of one segment. Lincoln in short admonished his friend that knowing how much he, Lincoln, hated the institution of slavery, his friend did not have to right to tell him to accept and leave alone something he believe to be wrong and evil. The letters are available online for anyone to read. Here is one passage from one of his letters that will dispel any doubt just how Lincoln feel: "You may remember, as I well do, that from Louisville to the mouth of the Ohio, there were, on board, ten or a dozen slaves, shackled together with irons. That sight was a continued torment to me; and I see something like it every time I touch the Ohio, or any other slave-border. It is hardly fair for you to assume, that I have no interest in a thing which has, and continually exercises, the power of making me miserable."

the Emancipation Proclamation didn't free the slaves it was unconstitutional and Lincoln said so ,if anyone freed the slaves before the 13th amendment was ratified in June 1866 a year and a quarter after Lincolns death it as the Secretary of State Seward that ordered it

That dude claiming that the democrats are all awful people that are the downfall of this nation is only using Johnson as his evidence. Im not saying that Johnson was the only one because no there are pretty crappy democrats out there, but there are also crappy republican.
 Their argument can't be based solely on Johnson and Lincoln but they're probably going to disregard that so just keep in mind that Johnson was one of the most unsuccessful administrations this country has had but not because he was a democrat it was because he was a brute drunk that caused the reconstruction to come to a halt and got impeached.

#3, you're partially right there. Today's Democrats and liberals were originally called Democratic Republicans for example. But Lincoln being a Republican, his charisma, wisdom, leadership and victory cemented the origin of the party, which is why he's seen as the originator.
