This is a very America-centric list, as if the civilization did not exist before 1770.

Wow, I am also surprised not to see the 1980s here, due to that decade with the space shuttle, Chernobyl disaster, fall of the Berlin Wall, the start of the digital age and more computers in wide usage for the first time. The 1920s was the first modern decade, with cars, radios and vacuum cleaners getting common. America is a continent, not a country. Cultures influencing each other is so common these days like never before, due to technology. Johann Gutenberg made it possible to have radios, TVs, the Internet, WiFi, tablets and smartphones. Joseph Lister discovered antiseptics in 1861 and they first became common in 1865, transforming modern medicine. Also in 1796, the first vaccine came, against smallpox, by Edward Jenner, which thankfully today we no longer need to worry about smallpox. I take advantage of today with technology to learn languages. I am so happy to live in this day and age, as prior to the last century it was awful with diseases, lots of death, not living for so long, empires, lack of communication with the world and things being slow. I am so fascinated by the 20th century. The 1910s also saw the Mexican Revolution.

More User Perspectives
1450s should be MUCH HIGHER
@usmanahmed5292yay for 1410 and 1990s, 1960s
@celestinesteeleI’m going with the 1940s because many streamlined steam engines, like those of the New York Central, ruled the rails.
@Jeremiah_Rivers76🐮
@reaperandjimboneedtodieI want to live through the CURRENT one cuz we have to be annoyed with Trump being president again 😡😱🤮😓
@kleine.5438I know I am being biased here. From an American's perspective (in no order) I say the 1770s, 1860s, 1920s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s were and still are America's most influential and epic decades.
@archangeljophiel2019Great list! The 1780s and 90's were also when some of Mozart's best operas premiered (The Marriage of Figaro-1786, Don Giovanni-1787, Cosi Fan Tutte-1790, La Clemenza di Tito and The Magic Flute both in 1791) hugely influencing opera/theater, music and storytelling, still considered amongst the most beloved operas ever written in general, let alone the best among Mozart's works.
@celticpoet21The 40s, 80s, 2000s and 2010s
@chiefvon30681490s - Columbus and age of exploration, Spanish Inquisition missing from list
@russellstern54001970s was an important decade:
- Star Wars came out and revolutionized the film industry. It started a new era of visual effects, inspired dozens filmmakers, started one of the biggest franchises ever, and showed that successful movies made for all ages could be created outside of Disney.
- The Pentagon Papers were shared and the Watergate Scandal occurred which saw people lose trust in the government, and investigative journalism take center stage.
- The Vietnam War ended
- The rise of environmentalism
- The WHO certified the eradication of smallpox
- The first MRI image was published
- Modern computing was born
- Cell phones, microwave ovens, the first voicemail system
- Apple was founded
- The Atari 2600
- The Sony Walkman
1980's should've made the list. The fall of the Berlin wall, end of the Cold War, the rise of gaming consoles, the end of the Soviet and Afghanistan war, just to name a few
@thermslusitania1151Other Influential Decades:
+1340s AD- start of The Black Death, which caused the biggest dip, or reduction in the human population
+2000s AD- 9/11 attacks; the war on terror, which raised awareness on terrorism worldwide; the rise of smartphones and social media
+1950s AD- launch of Sputnik 1, influencing space travel and exploration; Jonas Salk's polio vaccine leading to better immunization for diseases
I was the expecting the 1980s to be here at #1; if not, at #2 instead, but fuck...
@4ofdubsI like to think that the contestant need for edgy stuff during the 1990s came to an end when 9/11 occurred.
@kidz4p509Id go back to the 90s without a second thought
@jcruikI was born in the 1990’s but grew up in the 2000’s and in my opinion mind you this is a little bit biased but both are my favourite decades no offence to the other decades
@isaacjohnson3384Is this supposed to be a history lesson or an opinion lesson. WW11 and the presidency of FDR changes everything for most of the world and for the US. I am an American liberal but I haven’t forgotten the fact that the USA is the only country that dropped nukes on actual human beings. Most sources can’t list a simple reason for World World One.
Agreed that the Industrial Revolution changed everything.
It’s ironic that both Japan and Germany are now two of the United States strongest allies (Despite Trump)
Shouldn't decade 4.6 billion years ago be #1when the Earth was created. followed by decade 3.5 billion years ago #2 when life first appeared. Finally decase 300,000 years ago at #3, when modern humans first appear.
@ryanironheart4154Hello good morning ❤❤❤
@jorgeadairramos7469I find this list very Eurocentric. If you are talking about WHOLE human history, you can't possibly ignore the biggest events regarding Islam, Huns, Mongols, China, India etc. The "western" world was not even a rival against the rest until 17th century.
@Runo19232010:s = The death of Harambe and the release of Pokémon go
@Mazter1veteranOh boy. 1210s. Mongol invasion of Persia.
@thenannymohI’m gonna say it - 2020s should be here and we’re not even half way done
@banananaman87The 1990's Mortal Kombat, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Beavis and Butt-Head, Bill Clinton, The Crow and Mariah Carey nuff said
@Jamal-bl7yhAshkan karbasfrooshan is a woman hater

@TeddyStrongBearThe 1950s without the racism, The 1960s, The 1970s, The 1980s, the 1990s, and the 2000s
@kamsismithThe 80s was the GOAT era!
@olleselinWoah😮
@GHoPLAYZ69420The 1980s were the best. 🎉
