Truly Amazing Shakshuka | With Refika’s Tips | Breakfast, Dinner & Naturally Vegetarian

Zuchini and Eggplant needed

— @PepitoNOM

Looking for the perfect shakshuka? Refika shares her delicious Turkish-style version—ideal for breakfast or dinner and naturally vegetarian!

This isn’t your usual tomato-and-egg recipe. With smart tips like avoiding canned tomatoes, choosing the right pan, and cooking eggs just right, you'll learn how to make shakshuka full of flavor.

I love the detailed explanations. That would take it to another level. Otherwise, this is one of those dishes that I have made for years and did not know it had a name. By the way, I bought your knife three years ago. It was a hassle to get it to Canada but it is superb,

— @ienekevanhouten4559

Simple, soulful, and made to share—the only shakshuka recipe you’ll ever need.

Dishing it out is difficult. 😢

— @HaseenaShahab

Shakshuka

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons olive oil

Amazingly explained

— @saadiaiftekhar3791

1 medium sized onion, diced

2 large cloves of garlic, chopped

I've been making your recipe for too many years and somehow I lost it and I had to come find it again because I'm always afraid I'm going to miss out on a detail because you are very specific with your recipes. But then I got an abundance of green tomatoes. And I said what if...
Well that what if turned into something quite phenomenal. If you ever get your hands on some green tomatoes, make your shakshuka but use green tomatoes. It'll blow your mind 😊

— @JazzLogic

2 green peppers, diced, bell pepper works great as well

3 tomatoes, peeled and diced

What's wrong with caste iron, I will tell you . If you leave water in it over night then water will be grey next morning. Obviously, the iron goes into your food when you cook.

— @SandraJane-bd8im

4 pinches of salt

½ teaspoon ground cumin

Merci !

— @lailawaldesbuhl199

½ teaspoon thyme

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

Dear Refika, you are the best, the very best in the whole world! If I am looking for a receipt and find it with your name - my search is over: nobody can do it better than you. All nuances and details in laconic form and with your charm! With very best wishes, Yelena, Sunnyvale, CA

— @nick1lvov

4 eggs

To garnish,

Oh how I've missed you! Thank you SO much! Take care!

Black pepper

Coriander or parsley leaves

Sugar in onions ????😮

— @paulthomson139

• Heat a copper or enamel pan—something that heats and cools quickly works best for this dish. Melt the butter and olive oil together.

• Add the onions with a pinch of salt. Stir, cover, and cook on medium heat for 3–4 minutes.

Always a joy to be in the kitchen with you and your team. Delish food and wonderful company make for full bellies and hearts.
Thanks for your depth of knowledge and sharing it with us.

— @angellestone9160

• Add the garlic, stir again, and simmer for another 1–1.5 minutes with the lid on. Toss in the peppers with another pinch of salt. Let them soften gently.

• Add tomatoes and one more pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 4–5 minutes.

Please can you include the Spanish language when downloading it, thanks, regards

— @LorenzoLeónH

• Season with cumin, thyme, and red pepper flakes. Use a potato masher to gently break down the tomato mixture.

• Make four small wells in the pan. If needed, turn off the heat briefly to help place the eggs neatly.

Where can I buy the copper frying pan?

— @mariawarren6101

• Crack the eggs on a flat surface and gently place in the wells. Season the egg whites with a pinch of salt. Use two forks to gently mix the whites into the mixture without touching the yolks.

• Cover and cook for 1.5–2 minutes over high heat, or until the eggs are set but yolks still creamy.

shakshuka is not french it is Tunisian and spread to all the Maghreb and never never never ever use butter for shakshuka as making Turkish kebab with chicken only OLIVE OIL and tomato pepper and tomato paste onion harissa and garlic optional then eggs optional thats teh original and the word shakshuka is in alot of languages but have no meaning only in Tunisian which means a mix and we have the verb shak shak means mix so it is not french it is our cusine as pastas (from which italians and befor ethem romans take from where durum wheat was planted and we were the basket rome of rome and before it we were carthage ) as merguez as couscous and harissa paste and ewe do not use ever butter i t is not baklava if u want butter fry eggs directly with eggs not shakshuka. an Advise to our Turkish friends stop magnifying teh west and denigrating others learn history olive oil too was from us to ur Roman friends

— @chawquee

One thing went unfulfilled in my trip is I didn't get to eat Cilibir, Turkish style poached egg. I ate many things (best cimit, all kind of borek, kuzu tandir, sac kavurna, matancana, Adana kebab, etc etc) but no Cilibir. I shall be back in near future. Many place make the omellete style egg with sucjuk, but didn't see any Cilibir. 😢

What I love about shakshuka is that it is a very forgiving recipe. I have embellished it with so many other ingredients and the result is always delicious. One girl said she wanted to marry me after eating it - lol.

This recipe was aaamazing! Lots of ooooo's, awwww's, and lip smacking. So easy and had all the ingredients at home. Added feta at the end, otherwise made it exactly as per the recipe. Please try! You won't regret it. On a different note, love love love Refika! Her professionalism, expertise, skill, kindness, and caring are so endearing, but I absolutely adore her personality and they way she treats her staff. You can feel the deep respect and real authentic connection among the team. Lastly, love the beautiful video takes of Turkey and how she is such a great ambassador. I'm definitely thinking about it!

Refika, why not separate the yolks from the white eggs and mix the whites a bit and then add the yolks? I do it the same way you do this. But while watching I was just wondering 😊
Keep up the good work. ❤ There is always something new we learn from you.
