It should be pointed out that while there are many causes of Zonulin overproduction, gluten from wheat, barley, and rye is a MAJOR cause, and not just in people with gluten sensitivity - WITH EVERYONE... Zonulin is a signaling molecule that causes the intestinal barrier to open and close at tight junctions - when it stays high, you have leaky gut.
Some other reasons that can keep Zonulin levels high are:
SIBO
parasite
dysbiosis
pathogenic bacteria
processed foods
high sugar
fungi / yeast
stress
medications
and more...

LOTS of people have leaky gut... And it causes a LOT of inflammation and pain in their body. I used to be one of them.

I got rid of mine with:
Whole leaf aloe vera powder (see warning below)
Slippery Elm inner bark
Yarrow tea
Saccharomyces Boulardii

-- Unknown cause because I didn't know about GI-Map..., docs never told me.
- Whole leaf Aloe is SHORT TERM USE ONLY. It can cause cancer if used for prolonged periods. I used it for 2 months on a daily basis, but looking back, I should have stopped sooner. I likely cleared issues before I notice full symptom relief which was chronic upper back pain (arthritis in upper back / lower neck, back stiffness, and neuralgia across upper back) . I lived with that pain for 20 years thinking that I had arthritis that couldnt be fixed.
Slippery Elm also shouldn't be taken for too long as it can block nutrient uptake.

Why is it that sometimes people with SIBO or IBS test negative for Helicobacter pylori in biopsies, breath tests, and normal stool tests, yet in many cases their GI-MAP test shows very high levels of Helicobacter pylori? Would they need treatment?

Hey Doc! Loved this video. Wish you could analyze more maps. I just got mine done and my EDN is pretty high. You mentioned it’s related to allergies. How do you figure out which allergy? I’ve noticed whenever I eat beef I have cramping gas and bloating.

Isn’t calprotectin a general inflammation marker? ie: transient conditions like post infectious IBS from something like norovirus could cause it or elevated bacteria causing inflammation rather than UC?

Who should do a GI MAP Test? Is the test accurate? What to do with the results? I discuss a real patient example in this video.

Thank you for this. Super helpful! What does it mean if the result is high (h. Pylori) but it's not specifically labeled "high"? Also, the actual number for blastocystis hominis is under the refrence range yet its marked "high"... could it be mislabeled or am I missing something?
