Literally I think the series would've been so much scarier if there weren't 1 to 1 paintings to killings. Like if a stack of paintings were found, people with those names live in terror for weeks, only for one at random to be found dead, leaving the rest to live in suspense

I don't mind gratuitous edgy horror/gore. But it's like, say you have a sweet tooth. Are you going to want flavorful candies, cakes, and treats in order to get that sugar? Or are you going to fill up a cup with bland plain sugar and shovel it into your mouth? There's gotta be some flavor to make it interesting. An interesting developed story or unique elements to hook ya in. Some of the art was interesting, but even that got old pretty quick.

This is comically bad. The art is fun though.
Btw, recent MK games have pretty decent story. So explanation of the edginess by the author is a bit ironic.

I'm usually easily freaked by horror visuals, but these ones don't get me, which I actually appreciate. Good quality bizarre stuff. I think they would've worked best as general artwork with the same titles. Maybe just name and age and death date additionally where people can tie together any connections themselves. Loop it all together in a series called The Painter just like for the original story.
