Then martyred by a regiment of 750 soldiers July 9, 1850. - Baha’u’llah, "Glory of God" 1817-1892, a prominent follower and others were exiled to Bagdad for 10 years. On April 23,1863 on the island Garden of Ridvan, Bagdad, Baha’u’llah declared he was The Promised One, as he and about 70 Bab’s were being further exiled, ultimately to the prison city of Akka, Palestine arriving Aug 1868. Abdul Baha, "Servant of God" 1850-1922, born the night of tte Babs declaration and oldest son, was appointed the Centre of the Baha’i Faith.
🇨🇦 Abdu’l-Baha now 68 after 56 years an exile and prisoner, in 1912 traveled to America declining a ticket on the Titanic for a less expensive ship to New York. He spent 239 days, travelling to Montreal and the West Coast via Chicago where the majestic Baha’i Temple now stands. Becoming known as The Prophet of Peace, foretold the coming of WW1, visiting 49 towns and cities addressing high and low alike, how one should live as one people in one world, gaining great Media attention, becoming know as the Prophet of Peace. Many adopting his teachings, Phoebe Hurst wife of Senator George Hurst, the automobile Dodge Bothers who later visited him in Haifa, Carol Lombard actress. Later Knighted by the British for his work in Palestine during WW1.
🇨🇦 In Chicago, where now the magnificent Baha’i Temple stands, meeting Rabindranath Tagore, 1861-1941, while staying in the same hotel forming a life long friendship that transcended time and place, even adopting Abdul Bahas manor of dress. In 1913 Tagore received a Nobel Award for his Poetry becoming India’s foremost contemporary Cultural Icon. Writing both India's and Bangladesh’s National Anthems, founding many schools, universities and a prominent writer and artist. Now many Tagore Clubs are around the world honouring him. Tagore continued his relationship with the Bahai’s. At the Ritz Carlton Hotel, New York City - Dec. 7, 1930 saying, ”The first Prophet whom we know in the history of man was Zoroaster who preached God as a universal truth of unity, the eternal source of goodness and love: It is significant that in the same soil of Persia which gave birth to him arose another great prophet of the modern age, Baha’u’llah, who also preached God as profoundly one, in all races, tribes, and sects, the true worship of whom consists in service that has reason for it’s guide, and goodness and love for its inner motive purpose. We are here tonight to offer our homage to Baha’u’llah.
He is the latest Prophet to come out of Asia. His life is certainly a glorious record of unflinching human search after truth; and his message is of great importance for the progress of civilization.”
