War in Iran squeezing U.S. oil supply, driving up gas prices

I read that less than 2.5% of the USA's oil supply comes out of the hormuz strait. So, either US oil companies are seriously price-gouging and capitalizing on the fact that Americans don't understand what is going on and think the price increase is justified, or I don't understand why our oil prices should or shouldn't be affected by oil shortages on the other side of the globe. It seems strange to me that we have our own supply yet our prices should increase when there is a problem with supply somewhere else.

LMAO! Welcome to "normal" Newsome California gas prices folks! Before the attack on Iran, 87 octane was already over $4.30/gal. On 3/10, lucky to find it at $5.03. If people are sensitive to gas at that price, Newsome doesn't stand a chance for his next big adventure running for Prez. Environmental regs and anti oil attitude made refineries shut down and oil producers to leave the state. Now we are dependent on foreign oil being shipped in. Genius move, Gavin!
