Malo uso, congrats on the journey building your fale for your aaiga, i guess its all part of the journey the ups and downs we learn from it all. I am based here in QLDs Australia and i have a couple projects that i am looking to build back in Samoa, including building a home for my parents and a few houses for my air bnb. Bro, so sorry for your family misfortune, but my question is, don't you have relations in Samoa? they are the first people to ask such questions as, do you know any builders, is the land is close to rivers, you should take a ride around Samoa and see any new building still under construction and may be go and ask the builder for some information and also see the quality of their work, its heart breaking seen a young family like yours taking for a ride for a well below standard build. The information you have provided is good for someone else but not so much for your pocket to say the least, Lessons learned and i do hope your house ended up in a livable outcome. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Alofa Tele.

It’s inspiring to see our younger generation embrace home and raise their children here. You’ll make beautiful memories with your young family!. A quick heads-up on real estate and customer service in Samoa, absolutely agree with you and thank you for raising this. The pace and communication can be slow and inconsistent across the board and can be very frustrating to deal. We’ve experienced this too, delays, missed emails, and a difficult CFC process due to missing paperwork and miscommunication from department to department. It’s frustrating, but managing expectations helps! thank goodness we are patience people and for the sake of our peace we realised that this is such a norm across services and try and find ways to push through without loosing our cool lol. Despite the challenges, we have no regrets buying land in Samoa! It feels good to be home! Malo lava le onosai, and best wishes to you and your family.

I don't think that you made a mistake by trying to build whilst still in Australia. You made the best decision that you could based on your circumstances. I'm gutted that Samoans have behaved this way. My personal experience is one of trust in God fearing people

I feel for you uso and your family. Lesson learned, never trust any Sales person especially in Samoa:and always do your research before you commit or sign any contracts.
Always should paid a professional builder inspector with a legit licence to do an inspection and go through the house to make sure it's all good before you sign the handover and the final contract.
You should had a go and do it yourself mate!! You would've done a better job than this dodgy builder. Very unprofessional on behalf both the agent and the builder. I hope you guys get a good outcome now you exposed this dodgy business.

And definitely going to keep an eye on these builders 🧐 How disappointing to see the state of your house after all the time & money you've put into it! I'm hoping you are compensated/refunded for some of these services!

Better days ahead, congrats on the land…we did the same renovated ours during Covid so we couldn’t be there to physically oversee and i know the frustration of having to review progress through video calls etc + my poor family having to deal with the dodgy builders for us, we were disappointed with the absolute opposite of what we had asked but lots of lessons learnt 😒 can i ask which builders you used?

How much did rhe entire build cost without the land?

thank you for Raising awareness, been living here since late 2012,.. i commend you an yr partner for this brave decision to migrate into society here on the island as i have a small section lot up there in malolelei an yet to build an level the lot. sadly decent builders tend to have shonky practices and drag the complete date an extra 3 to 5 weeks and are hard to come by, an if you happen to find one they come with extravagant cost. God bless yr young family for the patience and resilience..

Malo lava le onosa'i. Very hard to build in Samoa even in Samoa unless you're doing it yourself let alone overseas. With no real mediation/accountability people can get away with anything. Once you guys settle being a go between for those that want to do the same would be a great business and service for others.

When we was building our home in America Samoa. My old man was there everyday to keep an eye on the guys working on the house.

You should sue the real estate and ask for reimbursement for the sections of your land that the trench runs through. Also the builders,you should have seek reimbursements for the damages. How dishonest some people are. It's terrible and I feel for you guys.

That be a good business for you guys to have like contractors that people can trust maybe you can do interior work in houses I see lots of Samoan Australia and Samoan new Zealand, Samoan Americans are moving back to the islands that be a good business for you guys I wish nothing for the best for you and family manuia
