I saw Superman 2025. It had it's moments, yet it had laughable ones too. Such as Superman getting knocked by the dog Krypto. Superman starts screaming, crying, and Lex Luthor's theme music. Has a cringy dubstep song. Lex sounds a lot like Roy Marcus Cohn from The Apprentice 2024. Played by Jeremy Strong. I thought the film ripped off themes from that film. I also have seen The Apprentice 2024 too. Such as Superman facing backlash from the public. Much like how Donald Trump did. Played by Sebastian Stan, while Ivana in the film, is more like Lois Lane from that film. Fred Trump is more akin to Jor-El, while Mary Anne is more akin to Lara Lor-Van. Russell is kinda like Angela Spica/The Engineer and Ultraman. A close ally to Roy, who's revealed to be a closeted gay. I will not to talk much about The Apprentice 2024. As I find it has better political and philosophical beliefs than Superman 2025. Superman 2025, still falls into power fantasy vibes. Here's the quote line from The Apprentice 2024: The Three Rules of Winning
• Attack, Attack, Attack: Never stay on the defensive; always be the one striking first or counter-attacking with greater force.
• Admit Nothing, Deny Everything: Never acknowledge a mistake or wrongdoing, regardless of the evidence.
• Always Claim Victory: No matter how badly you are beaten or what the actual outcome is, never admit defeat—you must always state that you won. And here's the quote line from Superman 2025: Krypton's Secret Reveal
• Jor-El: "The people there are simple and profoundly confused; weak of mind, spirit, and body. Lord over the planet as the Last Son of Krypton.
• Lara Lor-Van: Dispatch of anyone unable or unwilling to serve you, Kal-El. Take as many wives as you can so your genes and Krypton’s might and legacy will live on in this new frontier.
• Jor-El: Do us proud, our beloved son. Rule without mercy." A good effort in the Superman film. But, it feels like another James Gunn project. I find the reveal, as a rip-off idea from that film! I think The Apprentice, did these form of belief views a lot better. I'm not a fan of Donald Trump. At least he acts like the character from that time period. He's not some manchild that's cringe, nor starts acting way too over-the-top. That would feel very out of place. He's shown to be smarter, than many people had realized about him at first. He's a character, who is actually representing the human way. While Superman from Superman 2025. Is mostly a manchild, gets knocked by the dog jokes, more as a self-intsert to Peter Quill from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Patton Oswalt. He doesn't feel or act like Superman at all. The Apprentice 2024, knows how to describe the story of America. On how the people and society, were about to lose their own sense of kindness, innocence, and hope. Some of them still cling to those values. Even some refuse to change at all! The Apprentice does have themes of hope, kindness, and is more relevant in today's society. The Apprentice knows when to handle these themes better than Superman 2025. When it comes to politics, philosophy, commentary, human characters, and what it means to be human. It's not a blockbuster, it's a standalone film that isn't setting up a cinematic universe. The film does has easter eggs, the humor is clever without being distracting, and references to real world events. They aren't made for fan service, humor, or the sake of nostalgia. Superman 2025 on the other hand, wants to be a cinematic universe, is set in the present day, and a power fantasy. It doesn't understand what Donald Trump really was about. The social commentary and critique, missed the mark. It deserve a lot better than how James Gunn inserted it. I find it as a rip-off of the former film. Which came out the previous year. As the former film is a period piece, not a power fantasy, and the serious moments weren't done for shock value. It shows that personal consequences matter. Walter, who's accused by Roy. For cheating on his wife. As a form of blackmailing by Roy Cohn. Walter owns a pornographic photo he keeps it for himself. A secret and an item momento of his. Like I said, this is not done for shock value. Walter wasn't really that bad of a person. He's not some caricature, he is human. He thought he was doing the right, and denies having a relationship with another man in secret. A character, I would rather find someone to trust and sympathize for this. People don't stay like that for the rest of their lives! That's really ridiculous and very outdated in my view. People change over time. That's how the world works. Roy tells Walter, to say hi to his wife and kids. While Donald observes the scene, and Walter leaves the diner. That was the diner scene. And he doesn't make jokes about them, or would even try to use them as bait. Walter is made exclusively for the film. The moment is background noise, or a random subplot. It doesn't feel forced. It feels thoughtful and deep. By contrast, Lex Luthor, does the same false accusations to Perry White. To me, it comes off as just random, forced, and not as a philosophy battle. Lex does it because, boredom and reasons! Lex ends up making jokes about people's loved ones. Which ruins any form of intelligence, that describes Lex Luthor. That is something Donald Trump wouldn't be doing at all. There's no time for social media, talking about "punk rock, or sipping cocoa". The Apprentice has the line of Ronald Reagan known for saying "Let's Make America Great Again". See, that's being punk rock right there! The most punk rock quote ever!! The soundtrack has music needle drops too. It doesn't come as cringe, forced, or disrupting at all. It fits the mood right, and the acting is done well. While the latter, is a blockbuster, there's too much humor. They talk about being kind to others, as punk rock. The line was "Maybe that's the real punk rock." That line, made cringe so hard in laughter!! Which can disrupt the more serious moments and tension. And sets up a cinematic universe. At then end of both films. Both Trump and Superman make a choice about their own actions, of what they are. Not being forced into moral perfection. The the two protagonists from these different films, realize that their past is only a momento. The past is just a distant memory as well. Not tied permanently in all of us! There's a time to revisit the past, as a memory lane. They change the past, for their own beliefs when needed. Superman uses it with the video recordings, of his adopted parents. Whereas Donald Trump, goes to volunteer for surgery. And meets writer Tony Schwartz, known for his autobiography The Art of the Deal. And appropriates Cohn's rules into his very own valid reasons. Superman wants to use his morals about hope, and kindness. That makes Superman a hero. As for Donald Trump, he does that too. But, his morals in the way of get the job done by any means necessary approach. Trump felt more of an anti-hero. The end to both these films. I have enjoyed both films after one viewing. That's all I said here. Happy Superman Day!
Welcome to NatrixNate — where superheroes meet hot takes. I share my opinions on everything from comic book legends to their big screen adaptations. If you love comic book debates, rankings, and bold takes on your favorite superheroes and villains, you’re in the right place.
The current state of the DCU has people split, and this video takes a step back to look at it without the extremes. Using Supergirl as a starting point, the conversation looks at why the reaction online feels louder than the movie itself, and why it’s probably landing somewhere in that middle range—flawed but still watchable. There’s also a look at what’s working, from casting choices like Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa as Lobo to the overall direction of the visuals and action, while questioning how much of the criticism is actually about the film versus the narrative surrounding it.
Me and my girlfriend recently watched all of the DCAU. It started with Batman and she liked Batman and Superman already but other than Wonder Woman and Flash she didn’t know anyone else. She loved the Batman animated series though, but she was worried without Batman around she wouldn’t care. Then after Batman we watched Superman and she ended up really liking that but said she missed Batman. We get to justice league and she’s skeptical but by the end of the seasons she’s asking questions about the expanded universe beyond Batman and Superman. Then we get to JLU and after finishing that and then Batman Beyond she said she wanted to watch it all over again from the start.
My very long point is it all started with Batman, without Batman me and her wouldn’t have found out about all these wonderful characters, but Batman introduced them to us in a way, and the DCU starting without him feels like a major mistake in terms of general interest.
From there, the focus shifts to the bigger challenge DC Studios is dealing with right now. Adapting comic storylines into a single film isn’t easy, especially when you’re introducing characters like Supergirl to a general audience while balancing runtime, world-building, and expectations. At the same time, online discourse—review bombing, overreactions, and dismissing all criticism as hate—has made it harder to separate real issues from noise, which ends up shaping how people view the entire DCU before it even has time to settle.
The bigger question is what happens next for James Gunn’s DCU. Early projects like Superman, Peacemaker, and Creature Commandos have shown a clear creative voice, but the real test is whether that consistency can hold across multiple creators and projects. With an ambitious slate, shifting plans, and comparisons to the MCU’s early foundation, the future of the DCU comes down to structure, strong core characters like Batman and Wonder Woman, and rebuilding audience trust over time.
Shit was meh but reboot the universe nah Superman was good but they need course correction no reason for b-c list hero get a movie before the A listers
==Timestamps==
0:00 - Intro
To simplify this video. James Gunn needs to establish popular characters first in order to get that trust to DC fans. Then after that he should introduce lesser characters.
01:21 - Supergirl Not A Disaster
02:13 - Why The Adaptation Struggles
I'm recommending everyone to this video. You are 100% right.
05:04 - Online Discourse Takes Over
06:52 - Can DCU Work Without Gunn?
Well if you dont care about plot and things making even a little logical sense then yeah I guess Supergirl isnt that bad. Otherwise it would def bother you if Supergirl spent the entire film moralizing how you shouldnt kill the bad guy and then ends up killing the bad guy herself at the end.
09:50 - A Shaky Slate And No Pillars
12:35 - The Audience Has Changed
I just saw the movie today, & I personally enjoyed it. It's not the greatest comic book movie ever made, I'll admit that. Also, I think basing the story on the Woman of Tomorrow comic would've worked better as a series than a movie, also keep it live-action. As much as I love the new Superman movie, I agree with you, I think Gunn & Safran should've focused on one project (Superman) first, then taken their time building the rest of the franchise instead of rushing multiple projects. The MCU & Star Wars are great examples that strong, lasting franchises take time to build, not rush. No hate btw, I still think it can still be great & I really hope it will, because I'm tired of reboots.
14:19 - Consistency And Trust Needed
15:44 - Lessons From The MCU
I do have much hope for this universe. It's all downhill from here.
17:25 - Conclusion

I don’t get how super girl is a start to the new dcu.

All you YouTubers fucking LOVE doom-posting. Whatever gets the clicks.

@churchyll_I can almost guarantee it's worse than you think!

@gmo3686Well, yall rooted for Gunn
@mrsam0496Though I love DC and I would love that James Gunn´s DCU works, what I really want it´s more Young Justice seasons #RenewYoungJustice #YoungJusticeSeason5 #Save-Earth16
@carlosquilez3256It was pure ass, stopped watching it
@HarrisonLawerenceMovie flopped because nobody cares about supergirl. That’s it. C list character. Not worth a whole movie. It was gonna flop from day 1.
@Externity138:00 "you can already tell that he (James Gunn) already read the source material", he got the ending wrong, and the writer just admitted on camera that she just now years later realized that she didn't understand the ending of the comic, but Gunn never mentioned to her that she got it backwards.
@angelarch5352I always wondered why Supergirl (of ALL heroes) was going to be the follow-up to, arguably, the biggest superhero name in history! But then again, what do I know?! I've never been asked to run a comic book movie studio before... 🤷🏼♂️
@versedwellThe biggest problem is having James Gunn be in charge of everything. He's very selective as a comic book fan, and has said it in many interviews. Which is why hes making movies on characters that the general audience doesnt care about. He needs to stick to the original source material
@XenfernoMillie alcock does not fit the roll and then the portrayal of Cara zorrell is appalling. If this is the modern woman, the modern woman is not going to sell tickets. I think it's time that Hollywood goes back to the simple plan of supply and demand. In any business that creates a supply without a demand is destined to fail
@user-wp3el9uf2i5 min of lobo
Terrible script
Horrendus directing
Nothing new
one year btw, the dcu’s first film came out not even a full year ago. all these clickbait ahh videos is so cringe, bomb yt and twitter atp
@riot4nelzWe’re only 2 movies in declaring it dead or saying everything is fine is too early at the moment
@SonicjohnathonMarvel dug one well so deep that they finally saw water, unfortunately they jumped into it later.
DC on the other hand, digs a new well everyday, no water just die of thirst 😂.
James Gunn is trash, always been. He just got exposed 😂😂😂😂
@spartanghost_17🛞⚰️🛞🚩.👈👉.🔥💩🔥
@toymafia307yea i bet you rethought that after watching supergirl. im from the 90s. at least 90s bad movies was funny. supergirl was bad bad .. almost like handing in an incomplete assignment
@punishergamethey took an absolutely beautiful comic and made it a brown mess. 6/10 movie.
@rustdustandgutsI’m one of those people that saw Dark Knight and was turned off immediately by the “Martha” scene. I can’t unsee that scene. Now with Supergirl I can’t unsee the dirty view of the dcu because it’s a very dirty looking movie similar to guardians of galaxy movies. It doesn’t feel clean like mcu movies. They need to shift the dcu into a cleaner territory because kids don’t like dirty movies.
@esthe9588Yeah for sure supergirl needed to be a series. And lanterns a movie. I think they fumbled a bit there. I enjoyed supergirl for the most part but it 100% needed a longer run time. A 4 epsiode short series would have been much better. I cant comment on lanterns as it's not out yet. But I personally believe a green lantern project deserves the big screen.
@santinowilson6716The DCU never began.
@zinney9316You sound like a Christian dad of 4
@fu3gCreature commandos who watched that my man? Hahaha.
@hardytoddler2082The movie sucks and its not worth watching in a theater period.
@hardytoddler2082I will say after watching the movie It's nowhere near as bad as a lot of YouTubers are saying and it's clear that they're trashing the movie to boost their views because of the negative outrage. The movie is a solid 7/10
@sguitar99Superhero movies are played out, they're essentially the new Westerns. Unless you make something truly spectacular, nobody is going to care. Given the huge price tags for the tedious CGI battles it's just a fool's errand. It's not a matter of if, but when Warner abandons ship.
@albertOnyoutube100% agree on the direction of the DCU and the risks Gunn is taking. I applaud it, and I will be seeing Supergirl, but unfortunately the DCU got off on the wrong foot for me. I loved the entire cast of Supes and I think David may be the best on-screen Superman ever, but I truly disliked the dialogue and pacing, I’d say I even hated it and I don’t think I’m the only person. I may be a minority, but I felt the film was FAR too comedic and held no emotion whatsoever for me which is a crying shame. So, the unfortunate part is that Supergirl and Clayface have to win me over and I just don’t see it happening honestly. And I’m sure Supes 2 will be about the same and that’s okay, I’m sure it’ll find its audience again, but I’ll most likely already be off the DCU train by the time it premieres and I’m afraid a lot of others will be too
@joesteele786God this dude sounds like an actual AI shill.
@Brandon_ZealYou haven't seen it but you no it is not bad? Then this video has lost its entire credibility and you are a compete SHILL. It is GARBAGE. You are a SHILL.
@Brandon_ZealI am not joking when I say it is an open secret on the industry that Marvel paid and sent Joss Whedon and James Gunn to destroy the DC universe from the inside out.
@Brandon_ZealI hope DC prevails from the hate man. It’s gonna be a challenge for them when you have people online mostly Snyder fans automatically review bombing dc releases just so DC could fail in return of their dark Roman Empire universe
@lyejay2937I truly hate how people want Gunn’s DCU to fail and it shows you when they are bashing supergirl when it was arguably a 7-7.4/10 movie.
@lyejay2937Even if the movie was a complete shitshow. The DCU isn't going anywhere anytime soon
@RampidWarthogStudiosI thought the supergirl was a really good movie.
