I don't get it. You criticize Demon Slayer and then praise Jujutsu Kaizen, but ALL shounen battle anime follow the same formula. Literally. Just watch how all people talk about shounen is fight choreography and power scales. Basically, it's all trash.

Hataraku Maou Sama loses interest after season 1 because the gag had expired. It's the kind of show that, like Promised Neverland or Westworld, once you've told what's the story and what's going on, all interest vanishes. I get it the Neverland manga is popular and it's actually good, I read it, but it doesn't even come CLOSE to the interest and originality of the 1st arc, because once the kids leave the orphanage, the story is literally over. The interesting part was the mind games and intellectual conflict with the governesses. Just like Westworld, when the characters leave the park, it's over. And Maou Sama is even worse, because season 1 relied entirely on the comedic gag of the powerless Maou trying to take over the world by becoming a corporate salaryman and trying to survive with the terrible salary of a McDonalds (sorry, McRonalds) manager. From season 2 onwards, the story moves on to a conflict with people coming from Ente Island and the Church being the actual villains of the story, and that was just not what the anime was originally about.

It's VERY interesting to see how the boys talk about anime, because, when I was a young, anime for me was Space Battleship Yamato (or Star Blazers, I think), and by then I was a teenager. I think my first anime was Speed Racer, and I had no idea it was anime. Almost all the series the boys talk about were things I watched as an adult, so I have very little childhood memories of anime. My childhood was filled with Disney and Hanna Barbera.

Gokukoku no Brnhyldr is literally Elfen Lied again, with literally the same characters and the same story. The differences are so surface-level that there's no need to even take them into account. And yet, like Elfen Lied (which is also terrible, only less so), it has one fo the greatest OP songs, but with an animation that's totally not true to the story of the anime and makes you think it's WAY better than it has any right to be.

The only Final Fantasy thing about Spirits Within is the name, that's why it performed so bad.

@1:39:33 nah, Swordsmith Village is great, if you think it’s slow or boring then you were just never that invested in the story or the lore to begin with. The ending of SSV is absolute quality - the hate for Demon Slayer is undeserved, people say the animation carries it, the same is true for JJK and that is the golden child it seems. JJK is ass.

My problem with YLIA is that the drama was to in your nose from the start. Author just did not know how to be subtle. And I am saying it as drama fan.

The problem with the new seasons of Demon Slayer is they were essentially training arcs with fighting but didn't have the same emotional appeal the first season training arcs did
