What Made Stephanie Casberg’s Case So Unusual?

Video Overview & Insights

In July 1969, 17-year-old Stephanie Casberg walked out of her shift at Marc’s Big Boy restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin  and vanished. Days later, her remains were discovered along the Root River near 8 Mile Road in Racine County, Wisconsin.

I closed out of the app with brit making a face and reopened 20 minutes later and brit is still making the same face 😂😂 love y'all so much !!!💖💖

— @jacquelinemastroianni4639

What investigators found at the scene pointed to something deeply disturbing: careful, methodical dismemberment, evidence spread across multiple locations, and signs that the person responsible had time, control, and familiarity with the area.

More than 50 years later, this case remains unsolved.

Please can you do video about Sarah Ebersole Reddick fl

In this video, Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat break down Stephanie Casberg’s final known movements on July 6–7, 1969, the evidence discovered in Racine County and Franklin, Wisconsin, the suspects who have come under scrutiny over the decades, and the new lead that may connect this case to a larger pattern of crimes.

From coworkers and local suspects… to a man whose own family accused him… to a possible connection uncovered through a Crime Junkie investigation, this case has taken investigators in every direction.

I watched this on my way to Florida from Georgia ❤

Crime Junkie is created and hosted by Ashley Flowers.

Good very early morning! I am so excited to see Stephanie's case on your channel. Stephanie's Casberg's niece is my best friend. She looks very much like her.

I've just texted Ashley with our contact information. Please feel free to reach out. We'd love to hear from you. We've talked about taking her case to various cold case groups of retired detectives/agents. We just didn't know where to start. Stephanie deserves juatice in her eternity.

The pain that this monster caused her family was immeasurable. Her dad was Steph's brother and they were close. Thank you so much for giving Stephanie a voice again.

Have you guys heard about the unsolved murders in Bardstown, ky? There are 4 unsolved cases that happened within the 2 years prior to the disappearance of Crystal Rogers(which is officially solved as of June of 2025) and the 18 months that followed. One of the victims is a police officer, one victim is Crystal Roger’s father, and there is also a mother and her teenage daughter…

Check out these other great crime channels:

It is incredibly disappointing to see how the network handled the Anatomy of Murder situation. A company that built its brand on advocating for victims just used shady corporate tactics to push out Anna-Sigga and Scott over unpaid ad revenue. They withheld the money, kept the IP when the contract ended, and even cut the creators' final goodbye message to the fans. If you want the actual facts, search Google for the Variety article titled 'Anatomy of Murder Podcast L.a.w.s.u.i.t'. The original hosts deserved better, and true true-crime fans deserve to know where the talent actually went.

It bothers me so much when podcasts can’t accept that sometimes people end it. I obviously don’t know about specific cases, but recently there have been so many podcasts on this theme, especially on Crime Junkie. When my best friend ended it she made lunch, sat down to eat and study, and in the middle of lunch she just got up and ended it. So many people said they had never imagined she could do this. To be honest, that just meant they didn’t know her. In her case there were several witnesses, so we know all too well what happened.

Ashley, are you ok? This channel is getting more and more unhinged.

@heidijacobsen8561

This is crazy , i grew up here, and still live here !!! Honestly, theres not much shady shit that happens here , and for all the crime , there should be more reported. Especially with young girls. And women. The lack of seriousness for girls being on yhe street and not in school, they may start off as runaways, but ultimately turns much more sinister with no where to go. (From personal experience) its so sad , i loved it here , as a kid , but after moving away in 6th grade and back in high school ...everything went to shit. UNION GROVE HAS SHADY CHARACTERS, AND ALSO OFFICIALS AS WELL

14:00 I’m sorry but he said WHAT NOW?!? That is absolutely not what a parent should be saying in this situation. I am unfamiliar with this case so I don’t know where it’s going but GROSS

Episodes like this makes me appreciate how Ashley and Brit also cover these old and cold cases, decades after they've faded from the news cycle. They don't just chase after what's currently in the headline that can generate clicks.

am i missing something or how was her boyfriend suppose to pick her up if his car was in the garage…? lol

That poor girl 😢
I also think this was done by a stranger, OR maybe even a semi-regular from the restaurant.
Another thought i had was that she may have been abducted, it was late after all, idk if anyone would have been around to hear or see anything.

Can you please do the case of JALIEK RAINWALKER? That kid needs justice. It is a local case to me and the detective that was working extremely hard on it died. Once you go into that case, it’s very clear what happened to him. I just would like someone to do the case justice and tell the truth about it without leaving anything out.
