What to do on a RAINY DAY IN EDINBURGH: 6 fresh activities for bad weather days!
Video Overview & Insights
Bad weather caught you unprepared? Already visited all the galleries and museums? Here are 6 tips from a local, giving you inspiration for how to spend a rainy (stormy, windy, freezing) day in Edinburgh - cozy style!
Those gusty winds in Edinburgh certainly gave my umbrellas a battering.
I had a few blown inside out and wrecked in those feirce winds, not to mention the ones that I had to chase after down the street LOL
🌬🌬🌬🌬🌨🌨🌨🌨☔☔🌬🌬
I tried to collate activities that I crave on a dreich winter day and also to add a whole bunch of pretty b-roll because I LOVE taking pictures and footage in bad weather - even if it cost me many nights trying to thaw surrounded by hot water bottles!

I know I just commented, but man, this is probably my favorite video of yours, Kat. Your film-making is especially good in this one. So many shots fit for a neo-noir graphic novel (set in Edinburgh, now here's an idea!). Then you have the gentle rain sounds, the low-key music, and beautiful Edinburgh itself... oh my, how it tugs at my heartstrings.

Edinburgh is gorgeous in the rain because it's such a Victorian/Gothic feeling city. All these tiny alleyways and dark-grey stone make it feel so cozy - and to pop into a little café on a dreary day for a hot chocolate and a sweet treat, now that's just perfection.

I love the music!
@bmworrell05My wife is vegan and we're going there in May. I'm hoping to find many places with options for both her and my meat-and-potatoes loving family. Anyone have a good list? Also, I want her to experience a good pub for watching a football match in old reeky.
Great video!
Hi, i really like your B rolls - especially your night shots, you make Edinburgh look so amazing! can i ask what camera are you using? 😊
@dzsulienHi @kakibot Another great video! What’s your favorite cozy Medieval-esque pub in Edinburgh? Preferably one that’s not a tourist hotspot. Grateful for any suggestions! 🍻
@elevatefromfailurevery nicely done
@crumb6407Wait… at the end of the video, are you telling us something?
@KazoonaFLthat rain ASMR tickled my brain so nicely, thank you!
I miss Edinburgh (and Scotland in general!) so much, feels like I have a long-overdue trip to do 😉☺
My husband and I LOVE Hata! I dream of their porridge! 🤤
@kristinrae1I am 62 years old and from the USA and I am hoping to move to Edinburgh this year. I was born and raised in Seattle Washington. Very similar weather to Edinburgh so should be an easy transition for me.
@raymonkravagna3226Hey! Where is the jacket from that you're wearing at the start of the video? Which brand makes it? Love it!
@emilyhutton1102I really like your videos Kak and this one was great.... I enjoy seeing places that aren't Tourist attractions but where locals hang out. Don't get me wrong I like the Tourist spots but also the local spots to hang out. I visited Edinburgh before Covid and spent 2 weeks and Loved it.... planning another trip soon.
@douglasbuchanan4203This was a great video! Now I have to go back to Edinburgh and visit all those places! And the images were stunning!
@mariw84🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
@lacastledubDo they celebrate Valentines Day in Scotland??
@Exoticalenawhere are your earmuffs from?? they're absolutely adorable!!
@seanmencikI'd love to see a video about "Edinburgh's other castle" aka Craigmillar Castle 😄🙌 It has some amazing history for the history nerds, and when me and my husband went to see it we where the only two people there 🫣 I recommend it to everyone if they want to see a beautiful castle, but doesn't like the crowds in Edinburgh castle.
As a history nerd I also have other castle/fort recommendations if needed 😉 They are just a bit further away.
Great video! I’ll be in Edinburgh for five weeks this summer and will use your tips! Thanks so much.
@marthawilson4775Firstly, that shot down the Royal Mile to Berwick Law is stunning. Secondly this is a great city even when it's raining and dark. It's still pretty. i saw Puddings the other day. I will have to pop in now. Cool video. Hope you have warmed up and dried out.
@shanchatAn Edinburgh local with a euro accent??? No your not!
@jleen16jc“Keep it cozy. Keep it safe.” Definitely what Gandalf meant.
@TrevorGerzenShamefully, I've never yet been to the Cameo, but the Dominion is amazing, particularly because of its staff. Thanks for highlighting Doodles - planning to go there and drop into Sugar Daddy Bakery too.
@DerekGrubbWe are going to Shetland and Edinburgh in October. Haven’t been back for years. Thanks so much
@LoriAngela1963The sound of rain is the soundtrack of my life here in Edinburgh. Great video and you managed to surprise me with a few places which I haven't visited before, even living so closeby! thank you!
@dangerouspeaAmazing video editing. I loved the place where you can paint an object. Very cosy video :)
@JinJinDoeI’m in Edinburgh for a couple more weeks. What is the name of the shop that sells your merchandise?
@shawnjamehdor7311Another amazing video :) cinematography on this one was crazy, loved it :)
@ihatecrazyfrogPretty informative, thanks!
@johnpuntenney4596The timing of this couldn’t have been better Kat!! 😅😂
@tashagraham7422Hi Miss Kakibot, I love your videos! Just wanna ask if it's still safe living in City Center Edinburgh and Leith areas ? Have a wonderful day, cheers🌼
@lotjasmineI liked the point of view of seeing the wet day as an opportunity :)
@davidpierce3217Memang lucu sekali negara keren yang jarang punya musim panas (?) 😂 tapi percayalah saya bolak balik melihat walking tour dari para youtuber kalau negara ini layak dikunjungi meskipun hanya satu minggu ❤
@dwi_ann❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
@TheEmpressgothWonderful video!!! Maria from Greece!!!
@ΜΑΡΙΑΚΥΡΙΤΣΗ-ι2σWonderful! From your opening scene at Atholl Crescent I thought you might just head over to the corner of Stafford and William Streets, which is a great go-to for male and female clothes shopping (or looking). There is also a hair dresser, and on William Street there are various shops and eats including a Teuchters Bar (w/eats). It is a gem area, with Fopp the record shop just up around the corner.
Also, have you ever considered videos of just scenery? The 'around town' and 'rooftop' shots in this video reveal the beautiful bleakness of Edinburgh in the rain (great music, too). They are so cinematic, like something straight out of a movie. The sunny day shots you capture in other videos are also great. Compilations of such vignettes would be wonderful.
You videos and enthusiasm help keep my heart connected to the city I love. Thank you.
stunning shots of Edinburgh 🤩🤩🤩🤩
@MerryRavenEvery time I watch one of your videos the quality of the production always leaves me very impressed. We will be visiting the City in June, fingers are crossed hoping it doesn't rain.
@briandevitt6903Lovely stuff. We need a vlog for old farts like me on the subject of where to get the best cup of tea in Edinburgh. From a terribly old-fashioned Brit who doesn't like coffee.
@jasongray4517Awesome! I hadn't heard about most of these places :) Thanks for sharing!!
@KateLindsay_KatThose Taiwanese pastries were an awesome surprise! What else would you all recommend doing on a wet and windy day in Edinburgh?
