Today we’ll go over how to handle it when someone insults you.

6:17

— @JitenderYadav-x8d

We’ll start with a couple classic “destroy” comebacks. These are great at winning over an audience and embarrassing the person who insulted you. Be warned though, they may make the target of your comeback hate you.

Then we’ll cover some friendlier, more charismatic responses so that you come away looking cool and confident without making enemies.

I once met this real snobby prick who was a Harvard graduate and was measuring peoples' intelligence by their professions. Basically saying people who have low-paying jobs could never make it into Harvard. We got into over that and he accused ME of being ignorant, asking me "You think they just let anyone into Harvard?" I retorted with "They let you in, didn't they?"

So many examples using people who are now part of the trump cult. I get they give good examples for what you're explaining, but it's like watching Mussolini for tips on how to be charismatic. I may have to stop watching this channel

0:00 - Intro

0:17 - #1: The high status reframe

4:31 - #5: The "tit for tat" or "eye for an eye" method

What does "body of a dutch woman" mean and why is it funny? Did i miss something. Or does that black guy ive never heard of think that dutch people look different from British, German or French people?

— @thomasmills3934

6:25 - #6: Show that you're unaffected

8:18 - How do I build deep, unshakable confidence?

Stop going thru life avoiding conflict or trying not to make enemies. "A fool thinks he can save his life by avoiding a fight, old age will give you no peace, even if weapons do..." -Hávamál

You can always break out of laughter. Or not respond cuz no one can insult you without your permission.

I developed one of these tactics on my own over many years of being spoken to with disrespect and being thrown questions meant to be funny, while belittling me. I didn't realize it was an actual tactic until watching this video. People seem to constantly ask me questions with the intent of making me feel inferior, or ( it feels like to me) designed to let me know that I am not part of the " inner circle", but the butt of their jokes. They are rhetorical questions that are not seeking an answer, but thrown out there to "other" me in front of the "cool people". Instead of trying to be a good sport and laughing it off like my feelings aren't hurt, I take their question at face value and answer it seriously, as if I think it was a genuine question the person asked because they are interested in my perspective. They'll often try to interrupt my answer, saying, " Ha, ha, ha, I was just joking with you ," but I ignore them and continue to provide a seemingly genuine answer to their inappropriate question. They end up 9:55 being the one who feels awkward and embarrassed which is how they were trying to make me feel. I keep a serious expression and tone the entire time, even though on the inside I am relishing the discomfort they are clearly feeling and that they richly deserve.

Any response to someone who’s disrespecting you that isn’t what they’re expecting will usually aggravate them. It really irritates them when they can’t get a rise out of you. 😁

Did it ever occur to anybody that most of all these are scripted, to make a fool out of you in real life, where you think this stuff does work, but doesn't do in the way it's portrayed over here? Dude make believe and reality ain't the same.

I'm glad that he shifted the comebacks to more kind and lighthearted. It seems like people who make insults are hurt in some way and don't need a figurative slap in the face...well, most of the time 😅

I have a co-worker who was constantly asking me questions, because he was sort of curious. The questions were things I really didn't want to answer. I'm a guy who listens, but Frank kept asking me. This was irritating, but I finally chose to say something back to him. The question he finally gave me was, Why don't you you answer my questions?? I looked at Frank and simply stated, "Um.....serious questions only...."

Humphrey Bogart to Peter Lorre in Casablanca after Lorre said “You probably hate me, don’t you?”
Where upon Bogart answers “If I ever gave you any thought, I might.”

Many D list comedians employ the trick of pretending they got heckled. I have more than once seen the “headliner “empty his entire trunk of heckler material on a heckler that I don’t think really existed because I never heard a heckle from an audience in a small venue too unsophisticated to heckle. I mean we’re not talking the Apollo, alright? But every comedian has to learn a trouserload of witty retorts, and the D listers, by God aren’t going to let that go to waste because the yokel audience is too shy and polite to interrupt the act that good people paid good money to enjoy. Like I said, not the Apollo.

Often, I have tried to make what is intended to be a dry straight line to give the other person an opportunity to make a joke, but all I receive is meaness.
It's a test with me.
I am judging your sense of humor and character.
So many fail.
I see what I am dealing with, and often I have no desire to interact again, if possible.

Is it a coincidence that Jennifer Garner and her ex-husband Ben Affleck both attempted to humiliate the host and were shamed publicly?

@Mark-gg6iy

Showing you are unaffected is a smart tip - some people are rude and ignorant and very sensitive and will never admit they are wrong, while continuing ignoring your points and being wrong. You need to be stoic - you said the facts, and if they did not like it then that is their loss. Be unaffected
