What years of extreme isolation have done to me

Video Overview & Insights

If you want to support me: https://buymeacoffee.com/jettfranzen

Poor king!! You’re young and good looking go attack life man

— @scraptonking3092

Years of extreme solitude forced me to confront everything I used to avoid. Without constant noise, distractions, or validation from others, I was left alone with my thoughts, and that’s where the real change started. This is about what happens when you spend long periods in isolation, how it reshapes your mind, your identity, and the way you see people and the world. Some parts break you down, others rebuild you into someone more aware, more independent, and harder to influence. Not everything about solitude is peaceful, but it can teach you things nothing else can.

Bro it doesn't help that it looks like you're living in a kill room that was later turned into a storage space

11:20 You can learn about yourself by socializing with people and learning from them (even if many are idiots, you can analyze why they behave that way). Ultimately, you have to choose your people wisely; in the end, the information you find online about science, art, books, etc., is written by other people. I have friends to talk about these things.

And the comments section shows that many isolated people are idiots, narcissists who have no one to point out their stupidity, or simply can't stand other people's opinions.

As an older man, you just have to go be bad at it. go do a bad job, and try again and then do a slightly better bad job and so on. it hurts but it's good. Go be awkward you'll find your people and you'll find your voice. you will never be completely comfortable but it gets better. Also learn how not to give a fuck. It's hard but you can do it. IDGAF is a powerful attitude just don't take it too far lol

Dude, work all the time and have a wife and kids. You barely have time for friends. Most people have friends, but truly deep connections. Not, really. That's rare. People let that go, thinking it will come back around to focus on themselves and their family. People who sit alone sad, need to get up and keep busy. No time to sit in a basement pondering anything, besides providing. As men, I think we have a deep seated need to provide. Without anyone besides ourselves to do that for. We feel lost and depressed. Who are you providing for or what are you providing sitting in a basement alone? Besides what you think is good advice. People who I find in his predicament, don't provide anything. People like you to provide something in their presence. The way it is.

I've been alone for over 10 years and in isolation ever since I was aged 12 up until I turned 24 years old and now I have a job with my own car but I'm still alone. Things will get better only if you make them but no matter how much you change, no matter how valuable of a man you actually are, fate might have other things in mind and that's one of the worst things about reality itself. One of the many things I've taught myself in isolation is never turn your gaze away from reality, no matter how ugly it is.

I think you're kinda hot, I think you would do well with a compatible partner without too much attachment issues, which is great. Finding a person like that is tough and requires effort, but doable after months on tinder or whatever other social media if you keep it respectful.

I'm just a person that people don't really care to be around or want to know about But I'm fine with that. I own my own business and do a good job. I think I'm a pretty decent human and try not to cause harm to anyone. I have no children or family and live alone with my dog. I'm 57 and the older I get the more isolated I become. Most of the time I'm ok with it all and accept this is the life that was given to me.

Never made a comment like this. I just turned 26 some days ago. Haven’t had friends in the last 5 years as is from heavy anxiety issues. Currently still struggling with heavy isolation after I got my jaw shattered back when I was 22 from a coworker at work. For a first broken bone being my face/teeth and as pampered as I was growing up it really screwed my head mentally so much since I was already quiet and kept too myself just trying to get by the days, I dove quickly into drinking to numb everything and feel what I thought was better, cut all my old good friends off. Staying up every night till 6am and waking up at 5pm to do nothing and kind of rot. It’s been the fastest yet longest 4 years of my life, I know there’s more to do but my mind is constantly drifting. Strange world to be in

@bmellobeats4271

something I'd also like to ask is if you feel lingering emotions ever, I can't say I'm completely similar to you but I am similar and one thing that I feel is a glaring issue is the fact that I just do not feel intense emotion like the average person does. I loved my dad and basically the only emotion I actually felt after he died was the day at his funeral and that was it. That was 5 years ago and I have never felt any intense emotion for myself since then. Any time I have felt intense emotions or displayed it (such as crying) it has been for other people or fictional characters, never for myself.

07:50 Everyone can that... you would know if you had more interaction with people. Just because people do not call each other out on every minor little thing does not mean they do not understand. The reason why people do not do that is because "Aholes" do that..

What is the Point of it? You are 22, your brain isn't even fully developed yet, and you talk as if you already know what the future holds. You constantly mention yourself, I, I, I, have you ever asked yourself how you come across to others? From what I hear, you think you know what everyone else thinks or feels, and since no one questions your opinions, you value your own opinions above all.

You talk about the average person, but you are that person yourself, yet you think you are exceptional. There’s a hint of megalomania in your statements. You speak of isolation and have a roommate? In 3-4 years, you will watch this video and realize how arrogant and overrated you see yourself.

@AcidGubba
@

It's very true. I found myself in isolation, as a result of circumstance. A relocation, a broken relationship, a bereavement. I hated it. I craved community but I wasn't well enough to deal with people, I was broken, I was raw. I kept going with it. I start to realise this was the most important experience of my life. This is where I truly got to know ME. To understand who I truly am, without reference to others. The most painful and yet the most spiritual experience. I wouldn't choose it and yet, perhaps I wouldn't change it. I didn't ask for it and perhaps I needed it. I am better, stronger, more compassionate because of it.

You say that being alone means that not being conditioned and you can do what you actually want. I don’t agree with this, sometimes our friends ask us questions that make us doubt about what you believe for yourself. Without external contact you will build your own idea of yourself and the world solely based on your perspective and perception and that’s not a good thing. It closes your mind in my opinion. That being said I feel you I am very introverted and I don’t enjoy social interactions as much as other people do, my comment comes from a genuine place. I hope you find your peace

I managed to get lucky when I poured my soul into my passions and posted them online, and I secured a very small friend group who loves and cares about each other. I hope you find it too, it saved me.

"Youth is wasted on the young" I'm 34. 22 is an outrageously young age to make these declarations about yourself. There's so much time to be whomever you want to be. Even at 34, I feel this way. The road to where you want to be will be your hardest battle, but you should fight it.

True friendship is very rare today. Blame it on the death of the tribe, if you will. Social media is a good example of this modern facade. Think about it, does anyone post about their bad days? without looking for pity, perhaps. No, it’s usually the good moments or seemingly so. Pretension, most of it. Remember! If you are not talking on the phone or hanging out in person with one of your Facebook friends, that means they ain’t your friend. I’d say it’s a good thing, to be unmotivated to participate in such nonsense. What you need is understanding, you say you like to read? I’ve got some suggestions for you, one being? anything from Krishnamurti, or The Kyballion, The Nag Hammadi and Dead Sea scrolls if you are Christian minded. Why do you think it is a universal theme within theology, to wander in the desert or meditate in a cave etc. climb to the top of a mountain to receive tablets from God? Isolation is often a path followed by few, for many are called but few are chosen, upon the narrow road of contemplation. You are correct on observing that most wouldn’t last half a day, before needing someone’s company, to give them actualization for their existence. It’s rather sad, when you really look at it-needing others to justify their identity. I find it a weakness personally, but I didn’t always see it that way. It took two or three decades, before the patterns became clear. Co-dependency and pack hierarchies, playing stupid fucking games, wasting their lives and mine/yours, with their insecurities. One must really like themselves to spend years going solo, what does that tell you? about those who are unable to sit with themselves-yup they care not for their company. Which is why they must live through others. Pretty fucking pathetic really, take it from someone a little older and further down the road, since wisdom is learning from others experiences, as well as your own. Your path is not a curse, but a blessing! if you recognize it as such.

Ive been alone for about 8 years now going on 9, right after i graduated in 2018 i went straight to work, i lost my friends due to a relationship, and since ive had no irl freinds just went to work and went home, ive tried to go out and make friends as well but have all failed, i recently went to meet some online friends in MI and im from CA and was therer for a few days and now i feel that was a mistake, but long story short, even around family who just about all dont like me and only cause me stress and being a welder and that strress and have mental issues such as Psychosis and depression and anxiety, id still say ive been in isolation for going on 9 years.

I don’t think you are as unusual as all that. 2% of the population is INJF. Historically, people weren’t exposed to the social pressures we are today. 21 out of every 22 people were engaged in agriculture, which is a quiet life. My grandfather was a rancher and he didn’t go to town every day. He stayed busy working his land to feed his family from sun up to sunset. I think the current preoccupation with extroversion is making people neurotic.
