I graduated from #UCLA last week and will be moving to #Tijuana, #Mexico in three days. A lot of people ask my why I am moving, so I decided to make a video to lay out my motivations and goals.

I will be #traveling to Iglesia Bautista Centro Shalom in Otay. I will also be volunteering at a local #hospital. Ultimately, my goal is to deepen my connections with the community in hopes of gaining valuable experience that will help me provide culturally attuned care to Hispanic #immigrant communities as I gear up to become a doctor in #California.

I’m from Tijuana, and when I hear kids say they’re tired of beans and rice, I think of how that was my life growing up. Sometimes we didn’t even have both just beans and one tortilla but I was never tired of it. I feel lucky that my husband, who is Chinese and grew up in a cold, distant family, found me. After seeing how warm and loving my family was, he spent every weekend with us for two years until I got pregnant and he brought me to the U.S. It changed my life — from growing up with very little to living in one of the nicest areas and raising a family. If you stay good at heart, grow stronger through challenges, and keep helping others, unexpected and beautiful things will happen, and life will reward you.🙏

I found your ig account and I was really inspired by all you do for your community. I was born in tijuana, but moved to NY when I was 12. I’m actually planning on moving back to Mexico soon. Yes, Tijuana can be very dangerous, which that’s why it was a hard decision to think about going back

@adanfuentes1392If you want to become a bilingual doctor, UAG in Guadalajara has an international medical program for English speaking foreigners who have done premed, you apply to that program as you would to any medical school in the US, you have to take MCAT and so on.
You can keep doing volunteering in UAG while in med school and graduate as a bilingual medical doctor with a degree valid in the US. I studied in the national program for Mexicans at UAG and even though that program is in Spanish it has a very high acceptance rate into US residency programs.
Plus UAG is cheaper than med schools in the US

Lamentablemente se dice que si andas en buenos pasos no te pasa nada, pero no es así, a veces solo por estar en el lugar equivocado te toca ser víctima de la delincuencia. Pero también hay mucha gente buena que apoya a la comunidad y espero puedas encontrar a más gente así.

If Mexico isn't wanting the doctors, other countries will take them. Consider that a compelling argument to permit Healthcare, Agriculture, and Civil Engineering to develop across the land.
@Adroit-de2zhA noble cause, however i'd reconsider to places that could use more care in lesser known parts such as Palenque, Tabasco, Yucatàn. Etc. You may also find that there is less of a degree of crime in those parts.

@dannyhzm25373:08 Eating rice and beans has always been apart of me growing up, I’ve always got tired of having to eat the same thing almost everyday, but I reminded myself to be grateful, because even though I only ate rice and beans, I always had food served on my plate.
