Why India Is Backing Afghanistan’s Dams on the Kunar River | Vantage with Palki Sharma | N18G

Video Overview & Insights

In South Asia, water isn’t just a resource — it’s power. And a new water showdown is taking shape. Afghanistan has announced plans to build dams on the Kunar River — a river that flows straight into Pakistan. India has signalled support, backing Kabul’s right to manage its own water. Palki Sharma tells you why this is a message to Pakistan.

We have the largest water resources, but our neighbors are using them. They always make our country insecure to prevent water shortages in our country.
We should thank India for building the Salma Dam.

Pakistan kept and fed the largest number of Afghan refugees for more than 40 yrs. Famous saying: After doing good to characterless ppl protect yourselves from their attack. They can go on being supporters of bhut parast kafir and being landlocked eat challies daily.The crime has gone down in Pakistani areas from where the Afghan refugees have gone back. Didi, sorry to dampen your happiness but Pakistan does have a counter plan to the dam that India is supporting well proposing 😂😂😂 After all the water starts flowing from Pakistan. Lol😂

Palki ji,
It’s like yesterday when Indian Goverment declared Taliban as terrorist but now for expected gains against Pakistan, it support Talibans blindly. But be careful, India if gives 1 $ to Taliban and fight against Pakistan, some one else can pay 3$ to them and fight against India, India could not harm Pakistan yet, do you think Pakistan is a pc of bread for people like Rajnath and Modi ?

KP and Afghanistan originate the following rivers for Pakistan:
Swat, Panjkora(Dir), Kunhaar, Kurram, Gomal, Kabul and Kunarh rivers but despite pukhtoons share in the distribution of water is hardly 8% but given only 3% while balichistan only 2%,, Sindh 20% and punjab extracts 75%... this is only upto water.. the electeicity, gas, minerala, forests etc are not mentioned here.. this is pakistans justice with us...
India is going in the right direction..

We won't allow indian deep sate involvement into Afghanistan, since Afghanistan is our satellite state. If taliban shelters our enemies like TTP, and continuing their flirty attitude with indian, then we might think about the regime change into Kabul. And we must have to make a 50km buffer zone within Afghanistan territory to defend our region from this Namak-Haram indian proxies.

Dear Afghanistan you are a landlocked country, dear taliban we made you, we also have the courtesy to destroy you, don't play with fire. You have the choice to make good relationship with india, but we won't allow any such relationship that compromise our national security.

@sonamughal1754

We won't allow india to built this dam. You start this project, we make this project into ground dust with our beautiful state of the art missiles. We challenge indian and Afghanistan to build this dam if you have courage to do this.
Very soon we are going to annex wakhan corridors because of Pakistan's security interest.

Anyway love you both Afghanistan and india, from Pakistan 🇵🇰.

Correction: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa doesn’t benefit from this river. The Poonjabies are the only ones getting irrigated and gets most of the electricity from it.

Build the damn Dam, India and then provide protection for it. Two birds in a one stone.

If Pakistan can give drone bases for America to attack Afghanistan. Why Afghanistan should not give drone bases to india to have strategic advantage and even attack Pakistan.

@yamaarash5391
@

International law allows an upstream country to use 85% of its water resources and requires it to leave 15% for the downstream country. It also prohibits changing the entire flow direction of the water stream. In the case of Afghanistan and Pakistan, Afghanistan can use up to 85% of its water—such as from the Kabul River and its tributaries—by constructing dams or irrigation canals, but it cannot change the overall flow of the river. There is no double standard between the two countries. There are, however, some exceptions related to boundary rivers and their catchment circumstances, but not for upstream and downstream countries in general.
