Why pay for LingoPie, LingQ, Migaku or FluentU?

Video Overview & Insights

an Language Reactor free tier create a similar to these paid apps? I give a fairly comprehensive answer to this question by looking at what LingoPie, LingQ, Migaku and FluentU say they offer and at what price, then giving a short tour of Language Reactor's features.

Thanks for covering this. Language Reactor is somewhat of a hidden gem. It doesn't do paid sponserships or advertisting and that's why I think it stays below the radar. But it's cheap. I renew the paid once a year and think it about 35/40 bucks for the year. Crazy value for what you get and the ability to fit over any video in Youtube across so many languages is amazing.

If I could I would definitely use it !

04:11 Migaku

The music is so distracting, can't focus on what you're saying, how are you ADHD and make videos hard to listen for fellow ADHDers.

working on making a better version of language reactor called learn speakeasy! It's great but seems to be not updating too much anymore. Appreciate the breakdown!

So glad I came across this video. A lingopie ad popped across my screen, again, so thought I'd look for a comparison video for Lingopie and migaku. Instead, I found this gem of a video. I'm looking for double subtitles so I can compare the two. Thanks for sharing!

Asb player + yomitan is my go to! It's usually used in pair for japanese but i use it for german. I sync these two with anki to vreate flashcards, sometimes however it's impossible to use them together ,like in videogames so i use xshare's ocr paired with yomitan to get words. All of this is free but more complicated to tweak than language reactor but imo it's worth it,making flashcard stopped being so tedious

As a language teacher, I think Migaku is really worth the monthly cost, if you wanna get serious about developing your ability with a language, in part because it does the job of many applications you'd have to setup yourself, to do what it does for you. If your money is tight, though, stuff like Language Reactor is easily worth the time to get going, as long as you're willing to make that elbow grease investment

Language Reactor is a hidden gem I stumbled across a few months ago after trying all of the others you referenced. I do wish it had an app, but for what it offers and the price, it’s worth pulling out my laptop. I am 61 and computer illiterate, but the extension is easy to and truly user-friendly. I like the ability to print out a dialogue, which is in parallel format, that I can read later. I didn’t realize you could blur the subtitles, thanks!

I appreciate your video. I've been learning Chinese for a year and a half now. I use the Mandarin Blueprint. I'm in a stage where need to do alot of immersion in watching videos in my target language. I also would love to learn Japanese and Korean.
