Do you know the history behind the Russian invasion of Ukraine? Let me walk you through the origins of the Kyivan Rus, the Bohdan Khmelnytsky and the Cossack Hetmanate, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the treaty of Pereiaslav, and all the way until 2010!
You made a great video. However, I think you went too detailed when the conflict would start 1000 years ago. Also, keep telling us on the 2022 invasion and how 20 percent of ukraine was captured by russia.
If you want to watch it continue from there, make sure to check out the companion video:

Oversimplified
You made a 24 minute video and most of it is literally irrelevant to the war in ukraine
And when you finally did talk about the wvent leading up to it you gave us the nato sob story
Implied putin actually asked to join nato which is not true
Called the protests by its color revolution name
which is a dumb conspiracy theory
And most importantly failed to actually even make it to the war in ukraine
You didnt even mention zelensky bruh hes in your thumbnail
I mean oversimplified this is but jesus bro this is terrible
take it down
Or at least cut out all the bull about russias history

as a russian myself and someone who likes to gather information about stuff like this: you got some facts wrong, but some spot on and i couldnt thank you better. like explaining how a military expansion of NATO towards russian borders will fuck up any ease of mind. that was a good way to explain it

I distinctly remember being in the kitchen in my Kiev apartment when I was a small child, and my parents were watching the news and saying like "He ran away..." or smth (about Yanukovych I think but had no idea at the time)
and my parents and their friends did go to the maidan protests a couple times lol
not in the peak, before the majority of the blood shed
I've got a photo of my sister and I infront of a Christmas tree with Ukrainian flags and things like "Putting can go to hell" or whatever in may 2014 lmao

The video is not bad. Not all of the facts are there. Some are played poorly, some greatly shortened to keep the video from becoming a full history course. My main argument is that it is click-bait. It doesn’t answer the question: “Why the war happened?” Matter of fact it does not even mention 2014 Crimea occupation and Donbas war that are considered the cornerstones of 2022 invasion. Being a Ukrainian, I don’t want to shit on the video, as it is quite good (don’t compare to oversimplified, it is not reasonable), but it is a click-bait…

@FrosttheGlaceon-d9nBro its so good!
@ludoviccasteleyn6867Why Russia vs Ukraine war happened.
Russia attacked Ukraine.
Here, simplified ;p

@3rdChungustani_RepublicExcept Russians never called themselves or their state "Muscovite", and "Tsardom of Moscow" never existed. "Tsardom" was literally introduced to underline the nature of Russian unification as the mission of the state. Ivan IV title is "Tsar, and Grand Duke of Moscow, and of all the Russia", implying lands occupied by Poland-Lithuania.
@NorthonBruce2:00 - Jewish ta collectors, what a shock
@FuKingSupa13:21: No, Stalin did not cause the Holodomor. However, he did not help alleviate it, which is why people blame him for it. My grandmother once said: "My parents loved Stalin for what he did, but also hated him for what he didn't do." My grandfather also loved Stalin for what he did (saving his mother) and hated him for what he didn't do (his father was never liberated, and he died in a concentration camp). Those who blame Stalin for the Holodomor forget what he did do (distribute Ukrainian grain) but remember what he didn't do (didn't help Ukraine survive).
@mikeor-The war is actually more simpler then this, this pretty much explains the reasons behind why Russia and Ukraine are two separate countries. The real reason this war happened. Is cause of Putin. The guy wants to restore the Soviet Union, with him as the absolute dictator. And his first large target, happens to be Ukraine. Putin is actually an old administrator of the USSR that survived its collapse. And it’s possible that some part of him feels like it shouldn’t have. but no one told him just how stubborn the Ukrainians are, with wanting their independence. Ukraine also is incompatible with Russia. Their a socialist dictatorship, and Ukraine adopted western liberalism & conservatism democracy. So the Ukrainian’s views this as a fight for freedom.
@Actiongameinc2Bandera isn't fascist. He is just a Ukrainian nationalist. Many facts about OUN are russian propaganda.
@THEKWISHKAI love your channel now because you made a Star Wars reference and I love that. I love your channel and I love it. Love it love it love it. I love your channel.
@Captain-rex-q5uWasn’t the term ‘Byzantine’ coined by Hieronymus Wolf and the empire was basically Roman empire
@malikshazzy4808Why did you censor Estonia?
@_c3a3m_88No mention of Nestor makhno is major L
@_c3a3m_88I understand everything, but I still have to point out that there are some problems with this story. Firstly, it's impossible to cover several centuries in 20 minutes.
Secondly, there are specific complaints about part about Bandera.
The author didn't even mention the reasons why this happened.
Because if you listen to this video or Soviet/Russian propaganda, you get something like this: "The Poles lived peacefully, and then suddenly the evil UPA came and committed a massacre." Let's say that ethnic cleansing can't be justified, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss its causes.
For example, Pilsudski's "Pacification," when part of Ukraine was under Polish control, and repression was used against the Ukrainian population, which generated resentment for years.
Furthermore, Bandera didn't swear allegiance to the artist from Linz in Lviv. The published text read, "The re-established Ukrainian State will closely cooperate with the National Socialist Greater Germany, which, under the leadership of its leader Adolf Hitler, is creating a new order in Europe and the world..." Yes, they collaborated, but they weren't interested in Nazi ideas per se; they were only interested in the question of an independent Ukraine.
Furthermore, it's worth mentioning the fact that almost all national rebel movements in those years tried to negotiate with Germany, believing it was the only one capable of overthrowing the Soviet Union.
Therefore, I would call the author's story a GROSS SIMPLIFICATION.
You know, this isn't even uncommon. This is roughly the whole point of propaganda: you need to take true facts and leave out the reasons, and then the other side looks evil without reason. It's like remembering the Lusitania while forgetting the British naval blockade and that it was carrying ammunition.
It's like remembering the Artist from Linz's rise to power while forgetting that the Treaty of Versailles paved his way and he didn't even have to invent anything.
Let's understand that reasons are not the same as justification.
But the author of the video didn't convey the reasons for what he's talking about.
If the author was trying to be objective, he failed because he didn't mention the Pacification. Why did these situations arise as a result, as I said earlier, "The evil Banderites came and killed everyone." That's roughly the message of that part of the video.
In 1837, the term "Kievan Rus" was first introduced into scholarly circulation by M. A. Maksimovich, the first rector of the Kyiv Imperial University, in his work "Where the Russian Land Comes From." He had no connection to the Ukrainian people, and the Ukrainian tribes were later reunited with Russia.

@ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-u9r23:17 You made a mistake in the 2010 election, Yushchenko did not make it to the second round, but the western candidate Yulia Tymoshenko running for Batkivshchyna did make it to the second round, but lost.
