Japanese G1 Arima Kinen, year 2000. It was straight up gang ambush. TM Opera O was boxed in by entire competitors. He had no room. In the final corner, he managed to break through and got himself first place. TM Opera O became the Overlord of Century End, due to that stunt.

It's great looking back at some of these races. So much quality. Alot of the runners are now excellent stallions at stud. Racing is ver unique in that sense, you can have a fav horse then in a few years you could be cheering on 50 of his kids.

That Zenyatta race is how commentators should do it. He knew Zenyatta could - probably would - come off the pace and didn't keep his eye off the horse. When commentators do that, the viewer gets all the excitement possible, as opposed to commentators only noticing the flying horse way too late.

Hardly even tapped that Winx horse to win it. Was kind of shocked at that jockeys effort during the stretch run. He knew he had it I guess.
@chocolatetownforever7537Caleidoscopio winning the 2013 Breeders Cup Marathon , but even more improbable was caleidoscopio winning the Brooklyn Handicap. Look at those and either one of those races will out rank any of these as freakish finishes.

@notaclu6911What a shame they don't have the most spectacular ever with Secretariate winning the Tripel Crown in 1973 which all three races speeds still have not been beaten here in 2025. These three races where the most spectacular races I have ever seen. I was 24 when Secretariate won the Belmont by 31 lengths. These hoses they are showing are great but there will never be a horse like Secretariate and I doubt any horse in the next hundred years will ever beat his record. You can see all his races on YouTube and be amazed.
@Dandelion49How is nobody talking about Pakistan star ? The horse did not even breath or relax the entire race, what a win, this horse may be moody, cant be ridden by all jockey, but is a champion. While the other horse had dream run, he did not relax or breath and still won. What a horse. Jockey had to rode him pretty much all the race, at a time he was outside the camera view. This horse gave his owner a heart attack after this win.

@SRB9272Borel is the only jock who could have won with MTB the way he did it! From dead last, wound his way around 5 horses, then 4 more at the top of the stretch was blocked but found a hole on the rail and scraped the paint! Mr.Bafferts Pioneer of the Nile with GG was chalked to win. And as he and his wife were watching the race his wife asked,whos that coming fast on the rail,and as Borel pulled past PotN Mr.Baffert exclaimed..that GD Borel!!

I'm a little baffled that Secretariat wasn't on this list. I don't know how you don't include that final race, as being one of the greatest displays of dominance by a horse and his jockey, that has ever been seen. That horse broke records that I believe are still held to this day.
