Will I react to a Siberian Cat if I have allergies?
Something thats helped with allergies for me is Purina's live clear cat food. It's supposed to reduce allergens in cats and after a week or so of using it, my allergies have calmed down. I still get runny noses but between the cat food and exposure, i sneeze a lot less and dont swell as much when scratched. The cat food can be pricey, but when used as a supplement to my siberian's normal food, it lasts longer and still works.
for those of you who are wondering because you are allergic to cats yourself, i'm here to share with you what it's like to live with a siberian cat while suffering from allergies.
i've been allergic to cats all my life (runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, congestion, hives, and my skin would swell up if scratched) but i now have a siberian cat!
Hey there! Do you know the exact mix of your cat? My cat looks IDENTICAL to the one in this video (looks AND personality) and I haven’t been able to work out the exact breed as ours was a barn cat. What we do know though is that the mum was Siamese (or at least partly), and the person we bought her off thinks that the dad was a flame point Himalayan. We always refer to her as a Siberian though from pictures on the web. We are really trying to nail down her breed (or get close) so any information on your cat would help a lot!

This video was created to give people an idea of what to expect or what can happen if you decide to get a siberian cat while you suffer from cat allergies. Keep in mind that this video is based on my own experience of how my body reacted. Everyone's body is different and your body may react differently.****

Siberian cats are purrrrrrrrrrrfect and the best for life. Even if the allergy kills you, go get at least one purrrrrrfect Siberian baby and live your remaining days in happiness with pleasure and calm. There is nothing better than a Siberian cat. @marinellapI've very allergic to cats and have 3 Siberians. They sleep all around me and next to my pillow and I have no issues. All cats and people are different though so always best to test drive with a breeder. Most will put you in your car for an hour with a kitten to check
@MAC-nm5isI have two cats. I only ever sneeze around my shorthair tabby but never around my Siberian no matter what the season. Go figure. 😊

@emmamarakoulosThe Greek prefix “hypo” means “under, beneath, below, or less than normal” Think of hypoglycemic, meaning the blood sugar is under the norm. Not that there is a complete lack of blood sugar. So hypoallergenic does not mean the absence of allergies. But rather the idea that allergies should be under or less than whatever your normal is. Also be careful if you decide to go the over exposure route. As a friend of mine did this and now suffers long term health consequences.

I want to give him/her the best big cat life I can. I live high in the Rockies where it gets really cold and it’s going to be great playing with my cat and not having asthma and allergies 🤧. 9 more weeks to wait. 🤗

@ragdollqueen.tabbykingI totally concur. Even after having my "little buddy" for several years now. I brush her a lot but still get her underfur in my eyes, then I get the itchies and rubbing my eyes with the allergic reactions. BUT - she's my buddy so she stays.
One other thing about her, she's a genuine 'scardy cat.' She was a breeder and had two litters before I was able to get her. I think she was abused. The "breeders" were obviously only in it for the money and the woman really was not very nice. The slightest noise or movement she's not expecting makes her scat! In that characteristic, she's not the "cool" Siberian that I see on YouTube, but she's my buddy.
I read that the Siberian kitten will produce allergens until he/she is spayed/neutered.

@0sarawashereThank you for this video! We reserved our little girl yesterday but because I’ve been allergic my entire life there’s still this fear that I’ll get an allergic reaction when she’s home. I spent 1,5 hours at the breeders house cuddling 6 adult Sibs and 5 kittens and didn’t have a reaction, but I did react a bit to the fur sample the breeder sent me before we went to visit. But I’m so excited 🥺
@L0velyxMy brother and mom have mild cat allergies. All three of us love cats and want to have one but they are worried with allergies. I’m looking into hypoallergenic cats and I really want to get a Siberian. But we should probably spend some time with them first.

@QSpeedRacerMy son has a very bad cat allergy, though absolutely loves cats. After much research, we decided to get a Siberian cat who is called Fearro. After a few months, it is clear that he still has a slight allergy ( a bit of sneezing 3 or 4 days a month) but overall this is minor to what he was before. The joy that our cat gives us makes up for those few sneezes a month.

But I can literally stick my face in my siberian cats fur and breathe in the dander (lmao, not that I do this often) and not get any reaction.

@jacquelynbuono5249Personally, I am VERY allergic to cats. Not deadly, but immediately itchy, sneezy, asthma and red eyes. BUT I had 2 Siberian’s at once and never had any issues except once in a while red eyes from burying my face in them. I did do testing with the breeder before bringing them home though as it’s not guaranteed on a cat by cat basis.

TRY YOUR BEST TO ADOPT AND NOT SHOP!! i had serious allergies, so bad that i couldn’t even be in the same
house as a cat. i later went to the shelter and after some trial with different length haired cats, i found out that i wasn’t as allergic to medium/long hair cats. although i still had a little bit of allergies, over time they completely went away. now i can rub my cat all over my face and i feel no reaction at all.

I got a Siberian and still had a bad allergic reaction with asthma symptoms :( I was always allergic but never had these severe symptoms before.
We rehomed her temporarily and I'm taking allergy drops to see if she can move back in in a few months. Keeping my fingers crossed.
My brother is allergic to cats, and I’ve been trying to convince him to let us get a cat. He finally gave in and let us. We are still waiting for a cat haha.Thanks for the video :) (By the way they are just minor allergies, like sneezing, itchy skin, etc.)

@BruceLyegAdorable Deku!!💕💕I was allergic to cat and I didnt know that until I have two cats with crazy shedding problems, when I am around them I my eyes swell up and my nose will stuff up. This continued for a long time and eventually it stop. I was lucky my body could build up a immune system to my cats. My cats are stray cats I adopted from a shelter.
