Your Step-By-Step Puppy Training Schedule (By Age)
Video Overview & Insights
Your ULTIMATE Puppy Training Schedule by Age
If you’re following this puppy schedule and noticing your pup is starting to get extra vocal as they grow, especially barking when people arrive, at sounds outside, or at the door, you’re not alone. That’s a super common habit in adolescence if it’s been rehearsed a bunch.
We just posted a real-world training session on how to STOP barking, lunging, and charging the door (and what to teach instead):

Thanks for watching,
So if I’m understanding this correctly, if it isn’t going to the bathroom, playing or you are giving it 100% of your attention, it lives in the crate.

But I adopted her when she was 4 months old ?
More User Perspectives
Our puppy is 4 months old. We got her when she was three months old. We started crate training right away. However, she cries and barks when we put her in the crate when we can’t supervise. It’s near us and we don’t leave her in too long. What can we do?
@LisaThorik-x4dYay ❤
@Jake-fm3yfInigo Montoya and Coco are 9 week old chihuahua mini pincer mix. They are way too small for any collar available to me and Amy lead is too heavy. Are there alternatives? Inigo is the runt and is the size of a squirrel.
@craftylinaxThank you so much for this content. You are an excellent teacher for dogs AND humans!
@sandra4999sanStruggling with crate. So now 1 am starting 30secs a day lets see. Better with pen & floor bcoz of tropical summer
@pixiepaviThis is so frustrating... My gerbarian shepsky just will not stop biting! No matter what I do and I can't afford an in class training session. Shes 15 weeks now and I've tried everything since she was ten weeks. At first we tried diverting attention to toys when she started to bite, then we tried holding her collar until she stops and then rewarding that reaction, does not work. She fights it with all of her might and bites even harder. Then we learned the cold shoulder method when she bit, she stops yes, but as soon as we sit back down with her it's back to biting hard. then I realized actually maybe it's because we are reacting too much when being bit that she thinks we are just much more exciting than toys. So I eliminated as much of my reaction to her biting as possible then redirecting with a toy. Still not working. I've tried the biting her own lip method, holding her lip against her own teeth so she knows it hurts when she bites and now I think I might just have to put her in her kennel every time she bites... It's getting to the point where her bites are super hard and they get aggressive when she doesn't get what she wants. I don't know what to do.
@kaitlynlorentzen4375Oh my goodness this was so encouraging ❤❤❤ thank you!!
@katiemoe3687We got our puppy a little late and she didnt come with having any vet visits. She's a lab mix and 12 weeks old. Booked in for next week for her first vet appointment. But has already learned to sit when I make food and we're working on crate = happy place to prevent separation anxiety.
@dominicthomas1455I have a 9 week old female Rottweiler. We have had her home for one week. So far she is crate trained, almost completely toilet trained, can sit and can lie down. The only thing I struggle with is the constant biting and pouncing on my elderly pug. I have a house training leash attached which seems to work for me to grab before she does it but I prefer to not have this on her when she goes out for the toilet and she does it there too. I don’t like completely separating them as I want them to be used to each other but is there any other suggestions or is the house leash the best option ?
@Laura-zw9nnAlong with getting them used to grabbing the collar, touch their feet. Get them used to it early so nail clipping isnt a nightmare.
@jethro9341I can't stand crates, ive seen too many people use them as torture devices, essentially. Some people don't deserve animals.
@angelakinney-r7bHow do you actually do these things with a full time job job? I don’t know how I’ll have the time
@IsakOnniThe 10 minute sneeze made me LOL. 😊
@ForeverAmen124Eyes up here!!☝️
@bigpapi2658Your videos are great and a huge help for us. We just got an 8 week old golden retriever and have been using some of your ideas. Thank you!
@ericm1430I adopted a 12 week old mixed breed hound last week. Your videos have helped a lot. But he still loves to Alligator roll and spaz when i grab his collar sometimes.
@JuCo2010Question - new lab puppy 3rd week home she’s learning great things kennel training is good during the day but at night sleeps 2-3 hours tops any suggestions? Thanks!
@GingerinthesouthThank you x new pup 10.5 wks...comes to name, sit,paw, toilets outside, sits before eating and also on my mobility scooter lol and is great with my older dog x
@JulieBadgers1How long is too long to leave the pup in a crate when you are going through your day to day; meetings, homework with kids, workout, etc?
@SRWiTTYou are fantastic Kayl, my confidence is high although my puppy hasn't arrived just yet. Just ordered the book! ❤
@petamorrantuk95Thank you so very much for this training schedule. You and your team are brilliant and greatly appreciated.
@savourthemomentstudios4321Thank you so much for your time and helping new dog owners train their furry friends. I'm getting a new puppy in a few days, and cant wait to try these with them,
@funsingleguyI just adopted a 5 month old puppy (Kelpie cross) from a shelter and today is our day 1 and so far so good but still a lot to learn. Your video is super helpful❤❤
@pattymilanlol9867We brought home our puppy and he turned 8 weeks yesterday. The attacking of the pants legs is his favorite thing to do 😒
@yolandapierce4258I really wish I had watched this first before I got my puppy home. However, he is only seven weeks old and I've only had him for 2 days. I think I caught this video in time to kinda reset. Thanks so much for all of this great info. I'm gonna be trying these out.
@joociekreationzproduction9936Love your videos! Just rescued a 4 month old Pom/Shih Tzu mix (named him Sparky). Having difficulty with the crate training. I tried your technique with luring him in with treats, but he really hates the crate and doesn't want to go in and when I put him in, he wines. What can I do to make him comfortable in the crate? I usually put in a small frozen Kong toy with peanut butter, which helps, but once the PB is gone, he's wining to get out. HELP!!!!
@Jabberwockychick4:39 Dr disrespect controller 👌
@YT.PAULINAHow do you stop them from nipping or biting? I have a one-year-old that I adopted and he likes to bite his leash and if I try to take it out of his mouth, he tries to bite me not hard, but you can get me. I do say uh-huhhe kind of stops, but I’m trying.
@CRpatriotQuestion in my dog crate he’s a year old now so I believe he’s fully grown. He’s a Lakeland terrier lab mix. I just adopted him over two months ago. I got him his crate. I put his food and water bowl outside of his crate. He eats in the slow feeder and I’m gonna start feeding him a little bit more by hand because I do take his food in the morning while we’re training so I do feed him that While we’re training but what about his water or should I have a water bowl inside of his crate I feel like the only time he drinks. Water is just when I feed him his breakfast. I see that he drinks after that, but he doesn’t really drink as soon as he gets out of his cratesometimes he doesn’t even drink water after we’re playing.
@CRpatriotI love that food doesn’t fall randomly from the sky. It comes from meeeeeeeee which reminds me I gotta go buy another bag
@CRpatriotAgree with the great training!
But, no vaccines for my puppies
They have God given immune systems like us 😊
A puppy PEN!! She didn’t mention that. Life saver!!!!
@HeatherKing-e3eLove your videos! I was super happy you have the journal out, which I just ordered on Amazon so I can support you guys just a little bit while watching and learning so much from your videos!
@hiddenhollandYou talked about why we should deal with the biting but didn’t tell us how?!?! 😢
@tranglilytrinh6931LOL @ the guy playing his part by not paying attention to the dog. Dads man 😄
@siryuksHaving an 8 week old puppy now for the third day.
It looks like he is mostly interested in cuddling, I find that toys and even treats for now are not engaging him enough.
I'm trying to hand feed him, do name and word recognition and I find it hard to keep him interested and eventually he just backs off a bit and sit down in front of me waiting for scratches.
Any ideas or recommendations?
My puppy does not settle in her crate during the day. She’s 10 weeks old.
@Blind-AmbitionsVery important question: what's the solution for a puppy with a sensitive stomach who can't handle many treats? We haven't had the time to build up an association for "yes" yet, and she's more interested in food than any other reward
@SixStringsBrokenI am gonna get a golden retriever soon. What would you recommend for someone who works 4 days/ a week?
@tatcalrn78What do you do if you get a puppy at 12 weeks? And what if during the day there are in daycare?
@Ladyloubug9
