Chris Watts Speaks: The Complete Prison Interview Breakdown

Video Overview & Insights

In a closed-case prison interview conducted by investigators from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the FBI, and the Frederick Police Department, Chris Watts gave one of the most disturbing first-person accounts in American true crime history.

So sad story. The wife had a travel planned for both of them, him and hers, like another honey moon to try to restore their marriage. I am listening to this and I wanted to cry for what happened to this poor woman and kids. They didn't deserve that end😢

— @Emerton02

The Chris Watts Prison Interview — Who Was in That Room

This true crime documentary covers a rare sit-down: investigators told Chris Watts upfront that the case was closed and no further charges were coming. What followed was a 2+ hour m*rder confession that went deeper than anything revealed at the chris watts trial or in any prior public statement. This is real crime documentation at its most raw.

This was a marriage that probably should have never happened. Chris wasn’t ready for ShanAnn.

— @driversseat1707

The Affair With Nichol Kessinger

This chris watts confession reveals that Nichol Kessinger knew he was married — he had photos of Shanann Watts on his phone's lock screen and had shown her pictures of Bella Watts and Celeste Watts. His description of an "equal partnership" with Kessinger versus a dominant dynamic with Shanann Watts forms the core of the dark psychology driving this family mu*der.

Investigators doing a good job getting him to talk freely about what happened. Clever the way they flip between the background / random stuff to specifics about what happened. My take for what it's worth is he was the damaged child of an extreme narcissist mother. He was brought up as an extension of her rather than developing a core sense of self. An unpopular opinion I know but Shanann was also a narcissist albeit not as malignant as his own mother. He found himself with little self esteem caught between the two women. All emotions pushed down since childhood. He was trapped . Enter Nicole who gave him a fantasy of what life could be. She was the catalyst of what happened with his eruption of uncontrollable anger. He hadn't planned the murder other than fantasising about getting out of the family. There was no planning to what happened when next! We'll never know if he'd have gone on the run that night or took his own life. They were the only options facing him.

August 13, 2018 — The Night of the Watts Family Murders

Shanann Watts returned home at 1:48 AM from a work trip. Chris Watts woke her to say the marriage was over. What followed was described in this chris watts prison interview as the most intense argument of their relationship — until it became m*rder. This true crime analysis draws directly from his own words, making it one of the most disturbing family annihilator accounts ever documented.

Quit feeding excuses to this guy. Disgusting! He played you big time. He was in control through the murder of his wife and children. Deplorable.

— @melbs99

"Daddy, No" — Bella Watts and Celeste Watts

After k*lling Shanann Watts in their Frederick, Colorado home, Chris Watts placed her body in his truck — with Bella Watts and Celeste Watts in the back seat. He told the girls their mother would be "fine." During the drive to the oil field, he smothered Celeste first. Then Bella Watts said "Daddy, no" — her last words. Both girls were placed in crude oil tanks. This mu*der case changed the way American true crime stories report on domestic family vio*ence.

I hate him

— @rosepink5281

Criminal Psychology — The Family Annihilator Profile

This crime investigation uses this chris watts interview as a lens into criminal psychology and dark psychology — passive-aggressive personality structure, narcissistic collapse, and the profile of killers who destroy everything rather than face consequences. The watts family murders remain one of the most studied examples in modern true crime documentary research.

Watch your backs. There a more evil people like him out here.

— @Lottodds

Life Behind Bars — The Prison Interview Continues

The second half of this crime documentary covers Chris Watts' prison life: the transfer from Colorado to Wisconsin, mental testing, daily routine, commissary, and whether his parents — who still believe he was "railroaded" — will ever accept his guilt. His reflection on the Rzucek family's forgiveness is one of the most striking moments in any prison interview on record.

I'm so sad they changed his prison!! They should have let the inmates make justice, or at least leave him scared every day of his life, knowing they where going to do it but never knowing when... why are we protecting those people, why????

He killed those girls before Shanna got there and he killed Shannan downstairs. That’s why her phone was on the couch and all her luggage and everything was still in the living room and her makeup and bra was still on.

How does a happily married man with 2 kids and a third on the way go so quickly to the point having to murder not just his wife but the kids, it’s not like this built up for years and years and he just snapped. He was having an affair only for a few months then bam, family annihilation😅

The comments and attitudes of the police here are very disturbing to me. They victim blame Shannan constantly and actually lead Chris to soft and minimizing ways to explain his behaviour. One of them actually suggests to Chris, a quadruple murderer, that his killing of his two little girls was a mercy killing! It is utterly appalling.

So where I can listen to the video?

@monikat1330

When talked about the girls, it broke my heart. Right there, he cant relive it, cause he cant even believe he did that to his kids, whom he loved, clearly in the family videos. I know its horrific what he did, but I do believe we are all capable of murder, for “the right reasons” like if someone hurts our loved ones or self-defense. It seems he was emotionally in rage and it came out, and maybe thought he would lose his kids anyways. It’s so odd, how someone can feel love, for his kids, his wife and his mistress. This is a very insightful case, since there was no “pre-meditation “ per se, but he mustve felt that was the only way out. Now, looking back he is full of regret, lots of wish I, shoulda coulda. Now he has to live with this pain & regret for the rest of his life, in prison. Thats worse than death penalty.

@VanessaV1111
@

I used to believe in the death sentence for the most serious crimes. I no longer do, for these three reasons. First, I am a Christian, so it is directly against the Ten Commandments to kill anyone for any reason. But even if you aren't, when we kill we become killers no different than they are. Second, black men are much more likely to be executed wrongly than white people, especially when the quality of justice is often determined on how good of an attorney you can afford to hire. And third, I have come to realize that life in a high security lockup is much worse than death. Living in a concrete cell smaller than a typical American bathroom with absolutely no chance of getting out is the ultimate form of punishment. Death by lethal injection is quick and painless, the ultimate form of release. If you disagree, I welcome any and all replies.

I wish he didn't kill the two kids. Wicked man

You’ll never convince me Nikki wasn’t a part of this .

@HotMessExpresss
@

He is a total liar.
Too bad there was not a hidden camera.
Believe NOTHING he says.
Isn't it true that he attempted to kill his children before Shanann got home?
Didn't he say - "I was shocked that the kids were still alive."

@Whales-needustocare
@

"It turned." When? "At the end."
He was ready and waiting, it was all planned out!
But, as with his wife, --- he failed to communicate with his lover.
SAME FAILURE.
SAME COVERT NARCISSIST.
ONLY HE KNOWS THE TRUTH.
NOBODY BUT CHRIS WATTS KNOWS WHAT CHRIS WATTS IS THINKING!
NOW, HE REGRETS MURDERING HIS ENTIRE FAMILY. NOW THAT HE IS SERVING LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE.
ONE TRUTH CAME OUT: CHRIS SAID HIS MOTHER WAS ALWAYS 'HESITANT."
THAT'S QUITE AN UNDERSTATEMENT.
The truth is Chris is just a plain old Covert Narcissist.
Pure and simple.
And now, he is a condemned psychopath as well...
Just add that to his long list of achievements!
NOBODY BELIEVES HE ASKED SHANANN "CAN WE JUST GO TO BRIGHTON?"
For years, I have wished that her friend that dropped her off would have come inside with her....
I also wish that she would just have spent the night at her friends house. She could have just slept on the couch, and went home exactly when it was time for Chris to leave for work.
They needed to talk. They could have spoken by phone for Shanann's personal safety.
I wish Shanann would have had the foresight/insight. She knew he was not ok. She knew something was WAYYYYYY OFF.
She had no idea.
TEXT BOOK definition of covert narcissism. All narcissists are totally antisocial. Just look at trump. Completely antisocial...

@Whales-needustocare

It bothers me to see him in such a good mood.

A message to all family-annihilators... JUST GET A DIVORCE!!? How dare you ruin all these women's lives for your selfishness. Not just Shannan, Bella, Celeste and your unborn child; but her parents, your parents, Nicole, Shannans friends. Urgh. Disgusting that he is so comfortable.

@sarahlc9034
@

I don't believe him, I think he planned it. It was controlled, Shannon couldn't fight back because he had her pinned. It's not "just how he got on the bed." I think he covered her face the same way he described what he did to Bella + Ceecee. She did not quote the "forgive them Father, for they know not what they do' Bible verse. The kids were terrified and balling. He tells himself this messed up story to paint himself a certain way.

@carverest
@

If this POS wanted to be with his side piece all he had to do was just walk away and file for divorce what really got me about this situation was when he said his daughters pleaded with him not to kill them and I also believe his side piece had something to do with it to

@ghostjason402

It'a shocking that Chris Watts is more committed to apologizing to Nichole than to HIS ACTUAL VICTIMS!!! DUDE!!! Nichole is NOT THE VICTIM!!!!! She was still in love--- with a memory, and, even those memories were like passing clouds, floating by...
Chris Watts has at least 3 diagnosis that I can see: He has an antisocial personality disorder, he has a covert narcissistic personality disorder (those are very dangerous, and like Shanann, you never see the truth until the mask falls all the way off), and lastly, he is clearly beyond being very calloused, he is clearly a psychopath.
Shanann never stood a chance.
Narcissistic personality disorder people get easily bored. They had a lot of financial debt, and Shanann was fine swimming in debt, but Chris was actively looking for an escape.
The truth is, she had no inkling who or WHAT Chris Watts actually is. THAT is what makes covert narcissists the most dangerous. The one thing that covert Narcissists are: a cameleon... forever changing his spots to meet the next set of circumstances so he can explore and feed his narcissistic supply.
Another case of "seeing just the tip of an iceberg...": The ultimate truth about covert narcissists: "NOTHING IS POSSIBLE," and, it never was.
These are very dangerous people.
Dead pan eyes are always a marker, and Chris Watts has dead pan eyes.
"The lights are on, both there is NO BODY HOME."

@Whales-needustocare
@

It is a manipulation and he has a cognitively learned to mimic being a good person. He is a narcissist with a facade. Under the hood it’s empty and feels no empathy. Don’t let him fool you. Please understand people with empathy would never, and mean never do something like this.

@TheKey555
@

Hidden remorse or no remorse at all except getting caught 😮

@KarenL-w7o
@

Chris says, “Like”, a lot. So its like this or it was like that, which doesn’t feel “like” the truth. It seems he doesn’t want to disrespect his deceased wife even though he murdered her out of anger. Sounds as if his wife didn’t really do anything except be her take charge self. Sounds like with his mom and his wife he felt not in control at all. I think there’s a deeper issue with his childhood and mom.

I’m absolutely disgusted by what he did. Murdering a pregnant woman and innocent children is beyond horrific. What I also found disturbing was seeing the woman in the interview laughing and joking with him. That kind of behavior felt completely inappropriate and insensitive. It was uncomfortable to watch and came across as disrespectful to the victims and their families. Absolutely disgusting !!
