DARLIE DID IT: An Exercise in Common Sense

Video Overview & Insights

In June of 1996, Darlie Routier murdered her two sons Devon and Damon. She has maintained her innocence ever since. This video unpacks some of the key reasons we can be sure she is lying.

I mean…it’s in the title really, isn’t it? No shot, as the kids say.

I was pleasantly surprised to find several of my Patrons hadn’t heard of this one before. If you’re in that boat, buckle up for some next level cognitive dissonance.

Thanks for coming back as always, hope you’ve all been well!

Narcissistic sociopath. Those poor kids were just an obstacle and a burden for her, preventing her from living the selfish life she wanted to live. Thank god she got caught.

SOURCES:

For Darlie’s innocence, most of the arguments were drawn from either the supporter website https://darliefacts.com/ or the multiple documentaries that have been made over the years. Most notably The Last Defense and her Death Row Stories episode which are sampled in the video.

So the author changed her mind because of injuries she didn’t know about. How come the victim can’t explain where they came from. That would have been a brutal fight..

— @uwcb1

For her guilt (clearly the conclusion this video unreservedly endorses):

“Just After Midnight” by W.G. Davis was consulted multiple times. If you are still left with any doubt, first of all - god help you. Second of all, seriously consider giving that book a read. Just a little 200 page number that effectively dispels what little straws may be left to cling on to.

I'm sorry but there is no way that you could have slept hrough this. She is right there. There is absolutely no motive for this except on her part. This is almost an impossibility. The father would have heard this massacre from upstairs. There are very rarely violent, silent murders in a household, if any. It reminds me of Lizzie Borden. Why are we still in the house? There's a madman on the loose. Wake everyone up and get the hell out of there.

Darlie Routier Fact and Fiction is also a great little blog that was especially helpful in providing tips for key testimony in the trial transcripts: https://www.darlieroutierfactandfiction.com/

Yet another woman that killed and/or tried to kill their own kids for new dic.
Life without possibility of parole

Despite her absolutely bizarre change of heart, "Precious Angels" by Barbara Davis still holds up! The family background section of the video toward the start is almost a condensed version of the chapters in that book that cover the same subject.

Bryan from the Justice for Devon and Damon Routier facebook group was also kind enough to correspond with me and help double check facts here and there. If you’re really interested in the case, consider saying hi! https://www.facebook.com/groups/JusticeForDevonandDamonRoutier

giving her all the benefit of the doubt in the world, the piece of evidence I can't look past is that fiberglass on the knife...

I just can't even watch this it pisses me off so much I hope something bad really happens to you whoever made this video

This video is total fraud. This person doesn't know s***. Darley did not kill those kids.

@MagicalFortune-gt7py
@

Well isn't that screwy that's not George Bush's voice. And Darlene didn't do it Americans it was set up and she was really physically hurt and you can find those videos and the lady that wrote the book on it ended up going from thinking that she did it to absolutely convinced from evidence that she did not have anything to do with it.

@MagicalFortune-gt7py
@

I completely discounted the silly string debacle and looked at the physical evidence. The evidence screams that she did it!

@AmusedChild
@

Who is this person speaking and does he know their personal information??

@JanettaBenson
@

A blatant miscarriage of justice. The defense didn’t even bring up the fact that an owl could have been the intruder. It would have perfectly fit through the screen and not left any prints on the murder weapon.

@31:35 I'm listening to this video while doing gardening work and I thought this was Jan from the office. After her character gets weird.

Who would think to even look at the knife at that time? And to pick it up? For what?

Where is this mystery DNA that will exonerate Darli? The family was talking about so much.

Why is this animals still alive? She committed the worst crime a human can, a mother murdering her child....there is no worse crime, period.

@trith72

I have doubts regarding her guilt. theyre just not reasonable. Surely her defense team should've found something, anythibg that demonstrates someone other then a family member was in the house. Until then shes not going anywhere

An execution date for her has been set in 2026.

@jamesb.9155

The cop's son did it. . He planted a blonde hair from one of the police women in the window. They put something over her nose to knock her out and she fought them and when she passed out that's when they executed her with the knife to her neck. And she laid and bled on her left collar although she was cut on her right side of the neck. No blood underneath the cut on the collar. Listen to the 911 tape that was altered by the prosecution. And the lies that the cops told to frame her saying the screen was cut on the inside and it wasn't. But most of all the T-shirt that she was wearing showed a pile of blood on her left collar where she was laying down and she was cut on her right collar and there's no blood under the cut on the right side of her neck. She was passed out when they cut her neck and she laid there in bled. She was not standing at the sink. .

She might just be innocent. The most important Issue here is a mother killing her children is very unusual and goes against the incredible impulse a mother has to protect their children.

@franreid8203
@

The way her son was stabbed there's no way they can lean against her and say mommy mommy or anything that's why I don't believe her Plus the evidence doesn't back her at all She's in the lone star state that's the worst place to commit such a horrific crime Because they will put you down

@ChivaMichelle2Catz-v2c

i am at least 90% certain that miss barbara davis got a big fat check from darly’s family to shut the fuck up and say she was actually innocent. even from the very brief excerpt of the original book reads as very sensationalist*; she probably didn’t care much at all about darly’s actual guilt as much as how *salacious the story is and how many eyes would be reading it. but what do i know im just some bitch

I'm sure her postpartum and all the drugs they had her on didn't help in the fact that she was getting poor!!!!😮😮😮😮😢
They're sure in the hell is no other monsters going to come in and stab two boys little boys she's guilty as sin!!!!!😢😢😢

"one and a quarter"? 75 yards and 75 yards is 1.5. or 150 yards, total--or one and a half football fields. Football fields are 100 yards??

I can’t claim credit for this, but I feel it should be shared. On another podcast dedicated to Darlie Routier, a particularly brilliant guest pointed out something suspicious about the 911 call. At first listen, this guest concedes, it sounds like a frantic mother looking for help. However, if you listen to it again (paying close attention to the choice of words and sentence structure), it sounds a lot more like a small child that broke something expensive telling fantastical lies hoping to not get in trouble. What an awesome observation!

@henryisthere

i kept feeling like im not properly piecing her story together, but it's really just that it makes no sense at all. she wants to tell a story about this slow dramatic emotional scene with her kid waking her up, but she simultaneously wants to tell a story about a guy breaking in super fast and doing horrible stuff, and you can't reconcile those stories

@adog3129

21k crime scenes investigated is one every single day for 57 years. insane

@adog3129

how can you have financial problems, and a large collection of gold jewelry laying out on your counter, and the solution that comes to mind is offing your kids

@adog3129

i can't even hear her saying "i was fighting". i acknowledge that they're similar words, but to me she clearly says frightening

@adog3129

One part i find interesting about this case is that Darlie's supporters only care about proving Darlie's innocence and not about what it actually means.

Say, if you argue Darlie didn't do it and isn't lying then you're arguing that:
- an intruder with no known motive has entered the house
- this intruder managed to get into the house through a tiny opening in a window without disturbing the dust or scaring the notoriously angry cat
- he cuts the flyscreen from the inside with the bread knife
- this murderous intruder then chose to grab a knife from the kitchen and violently murder two children that were no threat to him instead of simply offing Darlie
- he doesn't finish the job and lets Damon near Darlie as if he didn't just cut her throat
- chooses not kill Darlie even when she is following him around
- he leaves the house without leaving as much as a fingerprint anywhere
- grabs a random sock, uses it as a glove without leaving his DNA and somehow leaving hers inside of it
- throws the sock away, actively making it even more difficult for himself

He does all of this without making a sound, without taking anything, without any fight and once again, without any motive whatsoever.

Yeah, might as well argue that an evil twin did it.

"Common sense" is a cognitive biais, nothing more, nothing less. It's a rationalisation of non rational thinking, where people justify their thoughts with a word and then move on.
I don't say that's what happened here, but I flee anyone concluding "it's common sense, really". No.
It's bullshit. It's the difference between telling someone with persuasive talent "it happened" and expose a conclusion based on reasoning.
With common sense, "God did it" becomes a valid proposition.
Common sense is the enemy of police, of justice and of truth.
