Why does the animation display the Rheinland as if it wasn't part of Germany? It's a bit missleading. It was a demiliterized zone inside of Germany.

Come on! Poland was Russian province only for 123 years!!! The Polish state is over 1000 years old. 123 years, a fraction of that time, is not a time that can be called "historical belonging!

So far it's pretty boring, light-weight and very slanted towards to US.

I hope everyone takes note of the dialogue at the start stating that Hindenburg, with the backing of conservative businessmen, appointed Hitler Chancellor. Think about that in the context of where we are now. Really think about it.

Almost entire German army was engaged in Poland. If France and Britain lived up to their pact with Poland and moved on Germany they would have easy ride to Berlin. Stalin would not dare to be on a losing side. WWII would not happen. Instead seeing no action from Polish "allies " , he gave a final blow to Polish defence.

So many inconsistencies about Polish history that the entire thing feels sloppy

The Polish Historians at it again, thinking German history started when Danzig was reclaimed by Prussia.

never heard of the Holy roman Empire which controlled Silesia since the 13xx never heard of Danzig only having German Mayors from 13xx till 1945 straight as a so called polish city.

Never heard of Danzig having a protestant Main church since 156x
Never heard of Danzig having the Magdeburgian City law which was only given to german cities
Never heard of Danzig being part of the Hanseatic League a trade confederation of German cities
Never saw that Danzigs architecture is German and partly dutch( Because the Germans had their Dutch trade partners remodel parts of the old town since it was then considered chique)
Never acknowledged that Poland itself is historically unimportant and the punching ball of both Germany and russia
Always negelcting that their contry ceased to exist after it got split up and was annexed by Russia
Always thinking Poland was a Historical Superpower when it wasnt even a regional power for the latter of time
Never heard of Poland being ruled by German Kings(based in Braunschweig, Welfen)
Never ever read a non biased history book or a to hypocrite to stick to the truth.

Ngl, pretty disappointed in this series so far. Right from the beginning, no mention of Russia invading Finland, nothing about the free city of Danzig. Haven't really learned anything new.

However, there is a bunch of film that I've never seen before. So, I guess that's something.

Great documantary. As a Polish I knew the facts but dynamic and Tom Hanks lecture is incredible and great intervenants.

The so-called "Polish Corridor" was a land which belonged to Poland since 1466. Before was in the hands of Teutonic Knights for about 1.5 centuries.
Before that it briefly belonged to the Kingdom of Poland.
Before that it was an independent Slavic Principality (about 2 centuries).
Before that it belonged to the Principality of Polans.

Quite complicated...
In the second half of the XVIII century during the first partition of Poland this land was seized by Prussia.
1918 it returned to Poland.

Surprisingly good , unexpected for 2026. Usually the Molotov Ribbentrop pact is barely mentioned, or what its longterm effects were.

One sided view . Many half and distorted truths. Totally biased anglosaxon view of the events.....
