Many new VIPKid teachers have trouble teaching VIPKid phonics correctly, so it’s important to have a strong understanding of the synthetic phonics alphabet sounds along with TPR, or Total Physical Response.
There are 44 phonemes or sounds in the English language. The different ways that you can spell these phonemes are called graphemes, such as "f" and "ph." Children often learn synthetic phonics sounds from most commonly used sounds to least instead of learning in alphabetical order. However, in this video, I break down TPR and phonics sound alphabetically. If you know the alphabet sounds, you have a great base to go off of as an online English teacher!
