I moved to the Smokies almost 3 years ago and there are definitely many things about the area that surprised me. Overall, it is an amazing place to live and full of Southern Hospitality. Ultimately, the decision is yours but be sure to do your research and make sure your decision to move here was more than on a whim because of a great vacation.
I hope you love it here and if you don't then maybe it's not the place for you.
I'd rather have the mosquitos in Florida than the ticks in Tennessee
I appreciate you watching!

We plan on retiring to E. TN. Nice RED state!! As beautiful as New England is...the demo party that greedily runs these states is abhorrent!

@jess-cn5uzI was looking to build my second home in Townsend or Maryville, But I have to be honest! I absolutely HATE SNAKES! I wish they would slim down where you don't see them much I just can't stand them, I'm in northern Michigan across from lake Huron and I really don't see any snakes! The only thing I don't like in MI is the cold or long waits until spring and summer! June July August September is it for warm weather! If I end up moving there I definitely will have my property set up with electric snake barrier! As well as treated for ticks!
@quantumfx2677I would want to live on the North Carolina side like Maggie Valley
@debrawaite7173Since I moved her I havenāt had a night out lol so I found myself loving to go too sleep earlier
@davidbrazell5179Thinking of moving to the smokies . I've never been there but i have family from there and it seems like I'd be coming home. I'm a natural hillbilly.
@BobF-lp7qbWe will be visiting Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Smokies Sept 21-24. Looking forward to it!
@alanatlrealtorI live in New York and I see a lot of snakes walking the streets everyday š§
@Larry..Br549I lived in Pigeon Forge for about 3 years. There were two Chinese restaurants that I went to. The first one was No 1 Chinese restaurant on the north side of Sevierville behind The Diner. It is an okay buffet, nothing was excellent but everything was good. The second is Sakura Buffet south of downtown Sevierville. It is both Japanese and Chinese. It is the better of the two.
@RepairMan2xThinking about moving to Tennessee from Ohio. Considering pigeon forge & sevierville as well.
@benontherise91Good video, one of these days I plan on buying a second home there. I mistimed the market for houses a few years ago when I was looking.
@bubbascruiseLove the video new to your channel we are wanting to move to Tennessee ā¤
@kimberlyadkins8069We have lived here for 20 years now, seems the 10 dollar an hour wage is where it stuck for the most part but has come up a bit the last few years, Sevierville got its first liquor store in 2024, the elders in office fought it tooth and nail forever but the influx of new voters changed it, the traffic has gotten insane even without a car show in town, a lot of the pretty wooded areas are now housing developments or apartments, We have never found a deli or restaurant that blows us away but the buffalo wings at the Blue Moose are great, I never had allergies until we got here, I know now how people suffer with them, you mention snakes but in my 20 years here I saw one at my place but bear sightings have increased even in our area now because construction has invaded their space, now with that all said, it is still where we call home for its mountain beauty and miss how it used to be when we first arrived and escaped central Florida madness (which is starting here) I can't imagine being someone that was born here and saw it get over run, I never leave for vacation, I go off grid camping right here in the smokys and it is AWESOME, well, accept when the bear ended our last trip a bit early š OH EDIT: forgot to say, great video!
@darkhollowgarageThis was great Natasha, thank you for the pros n cons and you are spot on with all of them. So about the snakesā¦.I am from West, TN, near Memphis, my family has visited Gatlinburg 3-4 times per year since I was a very young child bc my mom did craft shows there. We NEVER saw a snake and we hiked and stayed on Little Pigeon River. The very first snake that I ever saw there was 10 years ago and I couldnāt believe it. It scared me to death because it was coiled up underneath the railing of the fence on river rd. Since that time, weāve seen 4 more. Itās true, they are not aggressive or harmful but did scare us bad. Iād just say to folks, watch your step and be mindful they are there. Donāt know what would happen if you accidentally stepped on one or startled it, but be aware that they are there. Thanks again. And thanks for sharing a bit of your history. Sounds like youāve led a pretty fascinating life of travels. Youāre awesome!
@kellybeasley2323We go to bed early because we get up early to go to work. A lot of us southern people like southern food. If were married with children we don't need night life in clubs, bars,parties, because were at home with our families doing homework and just spending time with family.
@scpatriot5270Well done.Thanks šā¤
@VacationStationTVSaying Gatlinburg is representative of the Smokies is like saying Disney World is representative of Florida!
@AllenTweedWhat do residents do for work that pays good?
@patrickacoxI get motion mountain sickness every time we visit. I have to wear a motion sickness patch behind my ear.
@patrickacoxI'm currently in Harlem nyc..for some reason the algorithm and ads took me here. Great vid
@vicvic2081My wifeās family all live in Knoxville and sevier county. So we plan on moving up there some day .. I just want to be far enough out from the tourist areas so I donāt have to deal with it. But close enough to it to do a day trip and enjoy when we want.
@grantbarrow1609I'll take Tennessee over Michigan any day! You are very blessed to be able to live there. You have tacos and BBQ! My two favorite foods!
@markinmichigan2673omg the allergies are horrible i never had them till we moved down here. currently dealing with another ear infection because of it
@christinadunn6405You went to where !?????? I was liking ya !! Go Bucks!! ššāŗļøš
@CaptainBuckeyeCity people ruin everything.
@joejohnson4592Yep them snakes Here in the National Forest they are all over I carry everywhere I go When I lived in NC I would see them but not near as much as I do here Lots of water moccasin and rattlesnakes
@CharlieNJaniceYou have festivals too.
@donaldleewarner3868For me, the pros outweigh the cons.
@donaldleewarner3868You got one food place I like to eat at: Cracker Barrel. I donāt have one near where I live.
@donaldleewarner3868Iām down with no income tax. Iāll be able to keep more of my money. š
@donaldleewarner3868Iām dead by ten anyway. As for traffic, I donāt drive, so trolleys are the way to go.
@donaldleewarner3868Eat a banana so mosquitoes donāt bite.
@donaldleewarner3868Iām sure Los Angeles was better when you were there than now.
@donaldleewarner3868Great Video.
Iāll take all those Pros and Cons over living here in Michigan.
Yesterday (April 7th) it actually snowed. It only got up to 39 degrees, windchill in the 20ās. Had to get the winter coat back out.
The top 3 things most important to me are No Snow, No Ice and no temperatures below freezingā¦lol
All great points, Natasha š¤
@MegaMillionsMikeTotally agree⦠especially number 5, haha. My wife and I are from NYC and have been living here for 16 years now. We definitely miss the diverse cuisine, but thatās what makes traveling more fun. We love living here⦠these mountains truly feel like home.
@GatlinburgLIVEI loved this video! Could you comment or make a video on why you chose to move to East Tennessee as opposed to everywhere else that youāve traveled to and lived at? Can you also comment on job availability? I live in West Tennessee and have always wanted to move to the eastern portion. Thanks for the great content.ā¤
@shortnsweet921From someone that has also lived in West L.A., the crowds and traffic were never a suprise but you're right, Gatlinburg can be a different beast. Beautiful Chaos I would call it. Great vid š¤š
