Quentin Tarantino is BACK for his second sit down with Bill Maher. They discuss Quentinâs pipe, how growing up exposed to '70s movies and TV shaped them, Billâs love of Quentinâs awesome book, the evolution of cinema, Quentin critiques Deliverance, the difference between sophisticated movies and those designed for children, Tarantino's thoughts on trilogies, Quentinâs future projects, casting and cultural appropriation, Quentinâs take on parenting, what kind of movie Bill thinks Quentin will make, and about a hundred other interesting and hilarious topics.
Bill Maher. If you are going to point a gun at someone, you always check to see if the gun is loaded. Alec Baldwin did not do that. He shot and killed the woman. Case closed. If anyone hands you the gun, you always check the gun. he did not check the gun. It had a live round in the gun and shot her dead. He deserves to go to Prison. He should be there now. But his name is keeping him out of Jail and prosecution for now.

Then what about the Brandon Lee scenario?

Three mishaps. Hexum, Lee, and Hutchins.
Still, a statistically non-existent number given DECADES of blanks fired for movies and tv.

I disagree. Its 100 percent down to the expert whos job it is to keep it safe. It either is or it isnt. If someone isn't a gun enthusiast or at least has experience with guns and owns their own how the hell are they suppose to know and even then I wouldn't hold them responsible in the slightest.

So I can't accidentally pump diesel in my car because won't fit. Can we make a gun that only fits certain sized blanks.
@RJ-yz1zzWhy wonât this guy stfu?
@bryantbutlermfI wonder which is the more self-important asshole?
@PatrickMcCarty-eo7txI dont like Baldwin, but he had 0 intention of killing someone. He had no idea. Why would he think the gun would hurt someone?
@middleagenerdI work in film
since the shooting happened
Iâve seen very dangerous things happen with guns that could of killed
You should treat a blank or live as a real gun
Never point it at anything you donât want to die
Best thing to do is use co2 blowbacks and add the flames later itâs only a silly movie not worth the risk
Well, first: for a convincing recoil you need the power of a blank. Empty gun no good. Second: Baldwin was handed a cold gun. Thatâs what they told him. So he was basically put into a situation that made him feel secure. In my book: never give an actor any kind of responsibility except for the performance of his part. Weapons? Never ever. And never ever give an armorer any other duties or tasks except taking care of the arms.
@of1300"Firing a gun without rounds is like casting actresses without filming their feet."- Quentin Tarantino
@ZhangerzillaQT with that ridiculously pretentious pipe confirms his douchey-ness. Ok,ok Jackie Brown was a masterpiece, but the restâŚidiotic.
@douglaswynn9668Love Quentin.
@annetteireland4788They do manufacturer realistic-looking guns that only fire blanks. But I think any actor that handles firearms should have to have some firearm training.
@michaelvasquez9677Quentin Tarantino seems like a fucking nightmare to have a conversation with. Heâs a fantastic filmmaker though.
@Chris-ix9rlHow about Why did Baldwin aim it at the cinematographer and " Not " " press" the trigger ????????
@AAWGASHTADSHow can one of the best directors and writers of our time be such a dummy when it comes to firearms. Maybe heâs just so stoned he canât handle it.
@michaelscarfi3196Is it common to check the cylinder or magazine when someone hands you a pistol? I donât claim to be an authority on guns.
@georgeleinberger8670Armorers fault but hes right blank bullets do not have slugs on the end, if he looked he would have seen that
@OutOfOrder-404Bill Maher đ¤Ž
@TB26egruThe director actually has control of the set and usually been the one held liable. The directors of Twilight Zone and Crow were the ones included in the lawsuits. In this case, the director was hit with a bullet and lived, and the accountability wound up on the production studio which was Alec Baldwin. Itâs possible the armorer was sloppy because Baldwin may have berated her. She was hired because her dad was well respected, but nepotism doesnât mean theyâre proficient.The armorer will ânever work in that town againâ, as they say. Baldwin was basically doing an indie production. In the end, this pretty much ended his production company but he still finished the film and put it out on video and streaming. Which means he was sitting in an editing room having to rewatch when his director and cinematographer were shot, kind of like that scene in âGimme Shelterâ where Mick is watching the Hells Angels murder an audience member. QT had firearms in most of his movies esp Inglorius, so this was a good topic for Bill to discuss with him.
@muziktrkrIf itâs a real gun 4 rules of gun safety apply in any scenario
@967evilThe first rule of gun safety:
Every time you pick up a gun, you check to see if it's loaded.
Bullshit, Tarantino is making shit up....
@FranzKlemmer-x5gMAY I answer that
@MrTirantloblancI heard some of the people that worked on that set
saying that the whole thing was ran so badly and the producers were trying to save every single penny that people were exhausted and overworked.
Not sure how much of that played a part in it butâŚ
They are sloshed!!! đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
@nitupsarOkaaaay, so this is how it should be done...
@germanicgovirusal pacino would get pissed because they locked his 'little friend' to only fire when the camera shutter was open through a cable.
@Janus-u7kis Bill Mahr being intentionally this dumb
@Janus-u7kOf course he never personally shot her on purpose .
But he should have checked gun himself.
Never presume a firearm is unloaded ever no matter who says so..
They are talking about Alec Baldwin like he was the real victim
@CobrettiKaiAlec Baldwin got away with homicide.
@Christensen_Custom_GuitarsWe're supposed to believe he shot them in front of everybody deliberately with witnesses standing around. Overall he is responsible because of his position of liability because it was his "rodeo".
@zDAKen50There should be no primer in the cartridge until moment of shooting. If thereâs powder in the case then it will fall out thru the primer hole. Upon shooting the scene, you put the primer in. There are other ways to make sure. Itâs not that hard. Thatâs why it rarely happens. Thatâs why when it does someone really screwed up and need to pay
@gonova8412You canât look at a cartridge and tell if thereâs gunpowder in it.
@gonova8412anyone can see the difference between a blank and a live round. if they dont, it takes 30 sec to learn
@pers8471How do they not know how to check a weapon? How is that a discussion? I'm not pointing a gun, let alone pulling the trigger if I don't check it myself.
@samuelurbaniak9908Murdered plain and simple, it was live ammunition not blanks
@christopherflood6666Is that Hans Landa's pipe??!! That's seriously so cool if it is lol. Damn Quentin, bravo.
@jt88fymThis doesn't require a verbose mush-mouth explanation. The actor is 100% responsible. He tells the "armorer" I, and only I, load the gun. Your put 6 rounds of blanks into my hand and I load the cylinder... every single time.
@the_keystoneclimberAlec was the producer. Everything is his responsibility and his fault. He hired the shitty armourer in the first place.
@freebird5215Quinton knows a thing or two about gun props. He would ensure nothing stupid happened on set and I believe that. Bill didn't get to over talk which is the best part of this video. Mad respect to Quinton's film making talent.
@Deac-d3bwhat a nerd!
@barflytom3273Alec wasnt just "the actor" he is the director, producer, etc.
@evanb4189Either way, it went wrong because the first AD didn't check and the armorer put a real bullet inside it.
