I dont like Baldwin, but he had 0 intention of killing someone. He had no idea. Why would he think the gun would hurt someone?

Best thing to do is use co2 blowbacks and add the flames later it’s only a silly movie not worth the risk

Well, first: for a convincing recoil you need the power of a blank. Empty gun no good. Second: Baldwin was handed a cold gun. That’s what they told him. So he was basically put into a situation that made him feel secure. In my book: never give an actor any kind of responsibility except for the performance of his part. Weapons? Never ever. And never ever give an armorer any other duties or tasks except taking care of the arms.

They do manufacturer realistic-looking guns that only fire blanks. But I think any actor that handles firearms should have to have some firearm training.

Is it common to check the cylinder or magazine when someone hands you a pistol? I don’t claim to be an authority on guns.

The director actually has control of the set and usually been the one held liable. The directors of Twilight Zone and Crow were the ones included in the lawsuits. In this case, the director was hit with a bullet and lived, and the accountability wound up on the production studio which was Alec Baldwin. It’s possible the armorer was sloppy because Baldwin may have berated her. She was hired because her dad was well respected, but nepotism doesn’t mean they’re proficient.The armorer will “never work in that town again”, as they say. Baldwin was basically doing an indie production. In the end, this pretty much ended his production company but he still finished the film and put it out on video and streaming. Which means he was sitting in an editing room having to rewatch when his director and cinematographer were shot, kind of like that scene in “Gimme Shelter” where Mick is watching the Hells Angels murder an audience member. QT had firearms in most of his movies esp Inglorius, so this was a good topic for Bill to discuss with him.

I heard some of the people that worked on that set
saying that the whole thing was ran so badly and the producers were trying to save every single penny that people were exhausted and overworked.
Not sure how much of that played a part in it but…

But he should have checked gun himself.
Never presume a firearm is unloaded ever no matter who says so..

Alec Baldwin got away with homicide.

We're supposed to believe he shot them in front of everybody deliberately with witnesses standing around. Overall he is responsible because of his position of liability because it was his "rodeo".

There should be no primer in the cartridge until moment of shooting. If there’s powder in the case then it will fall out thru the primer hole. Upon shooting the scene, you put the primer in. There are other ways to make sure. It’s not that hard. That’s why it rarely happens. That’s why when it does someone really screwed up and need to pay

You can’t look at a cartridge and tell if there’s gunpowder in it.

This doesn't require a verbose mush-mouth explanation. The actor is 100% responsible. He tells the "armorer" I, and only I, load the gun. Your put 6 rounds of blanks into my hand and I load the cylinder... every single time.

Alec was the producer. Everything is his responsibility and his fault. He hired the shitty armourer in the first place.

Quinton knows a thing or two about gun props. He would ensure nothing stupid happened on set and I believe that. Bill didn't get to over talk which is the best part of this video. Mad respect to Quinton's film making talent.

Alec wasnt just "the actor" he is the director, producer, etc.

Either way, it went wrong because the first AD didn't check and the armorer put a real bullet inside it.
