Been in the industry a couple years now and im pretty confident in saying that between welding and fabbing, welding is the easier of the two and welders will gatekeep the knowledge and act superior for doing so. Super glad to have found someone teaching it like this

Hi tim, when im stick welding and trying to keep a short arc i feel like im pushing through the steel im welding!! do you know how to fix this? I using a unimig viper185 or something with 6013 and 162 amps (max amps) on 5mm thick steel. Thanks alot

Based on comments it seems I found a good tutorial. Im here in Philippines with a new inverter combo I bought that included a 4" grinder for only $60 and so far my welds are terrible but im on my third try. The slag is mixing into the puddle and after cooling looks like cookie dough when I grind it, black glass mixed in with blobs of steel and the tiny slag hammer they include is a joke. The sticks im using are local 6013 2.5 and dirt cheap at about 2 bucks per kilo, here they are sold by weight. I did manage to weld rebar to steel plate. It ain't pretty but is holding . Im subscribed and anxious to get better. Thanks

I only use a spool gun for Aluminum ive tried stick never came out right looked horrible now if im doing show quality I would use tig for stuff I can weld on the work bench otherwise its spool guns horse trailers dog kennels etc..

I just got myself a little setup because I'm going to go to welding school soon and I'm glad I ran into this channel. I put 4 beads down without knowing what I'm doing. They each looked better then the one before but I'm glad I found your channel because I get the feeling Im gonna need extra help.

but atleast they show and use "CONNECTOR PARTS" at metalwelding, and not as big lie as at cooking and abstractArts where they not show you to create your connector parts yourself also, . adults get 99% money connectorparts sales when young not create connectorparts. omg. and those "teachers" would never tell you to use 3 and 4 times more material "sametime" to make more work results.

they NOT show you 3 and 4 sticks use same time to faster results and more material connected faster. so much blabla bla talk but they NOT show you 3 and 4 sticks use same time to faster results and more material connected faster. they want you slow small results and factories big mega results money with AREÀ-size welding same time, and cheap robot hands doing the work.

I didn't see any proper welding techniques on a 2,5mm gap between the two plates vertical and horizontal welds. 😅
