The Future of Vehicle Recycling - Cars stripped, boxed and on eBay within hours!
Video Overview & Insights
Ever seen a car recycling depot so futuristic? Cars stripped, boxed and on eBay within hours! In this episode a very enthusiastic Jonny Smith was invited by eBay parts to visit what could be Europe's most advanced vehicle recycling depot. Charles Trent in Dorset together with eBay are at the forefront of car dismantling, using data and the latest tech to champion Certified Recycled Parts (CPR) that are carefully inspected, used OEM components. Why? Because by buying a fitting pre-owned OEM parts, there's far less energy and CO2 in manufacture compared to new parts, they WILL fit and the cost is far lower. For more info go here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Certified-Recycled/bn_7118694781
Brilliant watch makes me more confident in getting OEM parts from eBay motors
Thanks for stopping by The Late Brake Show.
In this salvage yard tour episode Jonny also follows the full strip down of a Tesla Model S dual motor and a new 2019 Mini Cooper. The 'disassembly lines' showcase this brand new factory style method of dismantling cars for salvage and parts re-use. Within a few hours the parts will have come off the car, been catalogued, photographed, packaged, shelved and uploaded to eBay for purchase. Many of them can be delivered next. It's an impressive system, and one that champions a circular economy (and doesn't rely on supply chains of new OEM or pattern parts).
i want to do like this, current started my company haksyard in Dubai, u are an inspiration for us youth in the parts biz

This is so great. Hats of these guys.
- I always thought manufacturers ought to be forced to take all their own products back for a thorough recycling process. Which, in my view, would influence the inherent design. Thereby we're building products that assemble and disassemble with simplicity. Thereby every product and part is accountable from start to finish.

What a total scam England in the UK has really developed into a total shit hole. The country has been heavily infested with a Islamic pestilence. This is a great entrepreneur, but my Lord, his country is beyond the pale.
And facilities like this lead to parts that are substantially more expensive. In the United States, we have the luxury of pull apart which public can go and get whatever the part they want off and pay at the counter. Iโm sure that does not even exist in Europe.

I was really impressed with that. It was great to see although I miss the old scrapyards. Only sad thing was that that bloke didnโt actually know that personโs name I bet you donโt know anybody that works there by name apart from the people around him like five of them.๐ฎ

Very interesting video, i often thought over the years why they crushed cars with so many good parts on them, at least Trents are taking all the valuable parts off, even down to light clusters/ headlights which used to go in the crusher ๐๐๐

@Kiprich-254Car insurers are allready using second hand parts for car insurance repairs, have been doing this for several years now
@alanmiell3224Superb episode, enjoyed watching it
@sauram4266Good stuff!
@tushermythceo has the ceo skills of a lead poisoned brain injured baked potato. Hard to watch.
@asaurcefulofsecretsCompanies like Trent make me feel just a little bit better for all our and our childrens' futures. Big emotive statement maybe but true. Almost everywhere else I see waste, greed, cancer causing pollution and total disregard for the environment around us. So well done Trent. All end of life cars should be mandated by law to be handled this way, with even further recycling so every single atom of is used again and 0% is landfilled or incinerated.
@briecheezy4119Fascinating , great vid
@MuddyTrousersSaving all the good panel parts for the insurance companies
@antonjamesmix2440WOW what a place
@JohnMackenzieInvernessWould love to do this as a job. Only problem is zero mechanical experience
@premiumytbecLittle man talks too fast. Calm down.
@johnnyworzel3741I still prefer a yard i can go in and just have a rummage around . This system comes at a cost and its passed on to the customer
@Doc-DoLittleGives me hope for humanity.
@ToughAncientSparkWell done Trent ๐
@sicboiHay Jonney. I still got bits for a Rover 25 I had to scrap coz I couldn't afford toget her on the road; Radiators, injectors and brake discs... What should I do with them? from subscriber in Somerset England-Albion..
@gregoriousgilbert519The burning question is: are they scrapping cars that are 100% fine? It looks like they are and as a car guy I think that's a crime. Just because a 5+ year old car is worth more as parts doesn't mean you should scrap the whole car.
Cash for Clunkers was the same deal economically: it took a huge chunk of used cars off the road at the tax payers expense. This made car companies rich by boosting the cost of used cars, forcing people to buy new. What a scam.
I seem to remember that Charlie Trent's scrap yard was in Holton Heath and then it moved next to Bluebird caravans. I suppose they still had the site at Holton Heath. My pal (who lived in Sandford) and I both went to Poole College in the early sixties and we shared a 1933 Morris Minor. We needed some parts for it and sure enough, there was a scrapped pre-war Minor there in Charlie's yard!!
@alanlangridge-vr7whSo many of these look like they're in decent condition. Some were obviously in accidents but so few are junkers. Perhaps for this business, that's intentional, but assuming there's just some mechanical issue, it makes me wonder if they could have a more successful business just Frankensteining parts and sell a fully working car rather than selling the parts.
@Toastmaster_5000The sad thing is, this industry is going to go awy by at least 80% with the obliatory ev change. Why 80%? Because ev have 80% less recycled to resell parts. They prcticaly dont need an engine change. Gearbox is less maintenence ect. Yes lights, intereor, bumpers, tyres and nick nacks. But a lot les. The expensive oil recouvery unit is going to be out of use. Batterie referbishment is going to be a thing. Insted of the buissnes with engin and gearboxes.
@csachevauxsansabri2612Have you got a boxer for a 26 year old corolla
@ConorObrien-y5rFantastic! just great!
@henrikrasmussen7340We have the same thing here in Tx, except they're called pick n pulls.
@catnimble9087People should invest at least 100 pounds per month into this company if it listed on exchanges
@MohiulKaziAnd now thieves are doing the same thing but on the side of the road, 'Brilliant'
@drtekroxEbay bought a scam company and superboosed it: The chrome extension that robs all promoters of their links by taking the last click, it robbed like 500 million from YT adverts by taking the last click, super sick management at Ebay
@antonyezdc7129paypal has scammed me for 10 years since I left the UK, they dont answer calls, dont let me log in to close account, dont answer mails, i had to close my UK bank to stop the syphoning
@antonyezdc7129Wow what a fabulous company, good work ๐
@TheMazza595How is this profitable? cost of labor, materials and old inventory must be astronomical not even factoring in the cost of the actual vehicle which from the looks of it the cars are mostly intact.
