As a White American I do feel like this should be taught in school more often, I love my country but that doesn't mean I agree with what my ancestors did frankly, it's not about guilt and shame, it's about acknowledging our past and learning from it, my ancestors caused untold suffering to literally entire cultures and ways of being, Europeans conquered the world literally but it came with a price and that price was a sense of cultural superiority that literally upended lives in a way that is truly awful.
