Tips For Text Replacements On the iPhone

Gary, I liked your idea of having a shortcut for your email. So I created one, I actually used “ee” as that’s easier. I found that works perfectly in most cases, but in a text message or a WhatsApp, it capitalised the first letter, and the letter after a dot (. or period). I know this doesn’t affect the email address, but it doesn’t look.

I’m not sure I understood your comment correctly, but at video timestamp 1:32, you mentioned that on Mac, you have to type a punctuation or space to enter text replacement. After using text replacement a few times, the text replacement suggestion appears in a bubble, but after doing it three or more times, the bubble disappears. If I don’t click on the suggestion bubble and type a space or a certain character, the text replacement is inserted. I’m not sure why this happens.

Can I type the shortcut and not have it insert the replacement? For example, I use two and three “@“ symbols for two email addresses, but if I wanted to just type the “@“ twice or three times, how can I do that?

Also, I’ve been trying to figure out how to avoid it adding a space to insert text replacement, as this happens in the same way as text suggestions/autocomplete (not from the list of text replacent). Thanks for your help!

Had no idea you could export them on Mac. I've usually archived/backed up my text replacement just by pasting them in a Note!
