Yes, lithium, cobalt, and nickel mining are bad for the environment, and it's usually more environmentally friendly to manufacture a gasoline car than an electric car. But, there's something to keep in mind: Gasoline cars are constantly burning fuel, and once it's burned, it can't be re-used. Not only can electric vehicles be recharged, their battery materials can be recycled and manufactured into new batteries. As for the coal point, sure, a lot of our electricity is not generated with renewables... but this is something we are actively changing. You can't make a combustion engine Corolla stop requiring gasoline to drive, but you can switch the source of the electricity an EV uses to drive. EVs are more environmentally friendly today, and will continue to improve as we update our electric infrastructure. They're also just more convenient. You can charge your car at home overnight, and go about your daily commute without ever having to stop at a gas station. I only take road trips once every 1-2 years, so an extra bit of time spent on charging there isn't relevant for my use case (remember, if your destination is within ~60 miles, pretty much any modern EV can just drive there and back without charging on the way)

the new hatchbacks and SUVs are also higher in Europe, gotta miss the ole low nosed Citroën ZX and Fiat Marea style cars that gave you amazing views of the streets and if you collided with a pedestrian in a slow speed area you would just nick their femurs or a child's shoulder surviving the impact with most of the body still intact and healable. Now them flat noses with "curved aerodynamic hoods" completely crushing their pelvic girdle or hitting children's heads but "the 6 ft plus people would roll over the hood" albeit with a broken ribcage then sliding down and getting crushed by the wheels because there's not enough surface to stay on after the collision.

Since the terrible legislation looks like it's here to stay, our best bet is to just increase liability insurance premiums for bigger vehicles. Let's see how popular these cars are when drivers are paying an extra 200, 500, or even 1,000 per month!

I've been selling cars for about 6 years now, 80% of people I meet would be far better off with a sedan straight up.

I get that people buy bigger and heavier cars to feel more comfortable and safer on the road... but now that everyone is driving 6ft tall 6000lb trucks/ crossovers rather than smaller, practical, efficent economy cars with those stricter safety regulations... are we really safer? I'd say not at all.

Most people are stupid that's why massive dangerous, polluting vehicles have become standard. It's for the same reason why big houses exist, luxury watches and all the other status related objects exist. Because humans are insecure little shits

Another problem is that engines are getting more efficient, it's just that they use that efficiency to make the car bigger. If they put that new engineering to use in a smaller car it'd basically set a new standard for fuel economy.

I wish I could show you but my dad has a 68' Pontiac GTO with a big block, 1500+ hp, and a bronze and black half and half wrap. Of course it is a drag car but it's still fun to drive around the pits. Btw for fun we got a golf cart, slapped a Jake's lift kit, gave it a push bar, and a Honda 2400cc motor, I believe it is 2400cc.Also sense this video's beginning is about classic cars and you were talking about the 55' Chevy Bel Air, I must tell you about my dads classic 55' Chevy Bel Air, It at one point was a east coast gaser that was street legal and was really fast. The 55 had a hatch back, deep red paint, blower motor, and flames from the front. It was badass in my opinion then when he did a wheelie and cracked the team he ended up taking the car apart and thats where the 78' Camaro's engine parts came from, also the 55 Chevy was the car my dad taught me how to weld on, the 78 Camaro was in the pro class at the time he did N.E.T.O for a while but then he went to pro class. Sadly the Camaro crashed in 2020. If you read this thanks you goodbye.

Fun fact, you have a higher chance surviving being T-boned in a car than in a SUV or truck. Since trucks and suvs are body on frames, and they dont test them as much as a car would. A unibody car will hold together in a 40 mph tbone and a Silverado will split in half and a Tahoe will split in half - at 30 mph. Explain these things being safe. Not to mention, you have a higher chance of killing someone walking out in front of you since your view is as bad as a semi truck. Also, here's to making a bill where any vehicle that weighs 6,000 pounds require a CDL.

I am Japanese. The president says, “Sell more American cars in Japan!” but in Japan, one out of every three new cars sold is a kei car.
American cars have many appealing features, but they aren’t well-suited to Japanese road conditions.
In Japan, people want cars that are affordable, highly maneuverable, and easy to drive on even the narrowest streets.

If you drive a truck for actually using it as a truck then your fine but I think we don’t need the trucks to be raised so high or giant wheels

I had a 2005 Honda Civic and I loved it. It served me well for 10 years. Finally it was time to move on, and I got a 2017 Acura MDX. I went to a much bigger car because I now had a bunch of kids to put in it and I was tired of doing that with a Civic; and perhaps more importantly I live in northern Wisconsin and I really wanted something better for 6 inches of snow than 2 wheel drive and a vomplete lavk of ground clearance. I still loved my Honda and would tell my kids to get something like it when they got their early cars, but man, the handling of the MDX is suuuper nice.

But it does make me sad to drive through parking lots and see the sea of crossovers and trucks, and mourn the sedans of yore.

@TashaJaeger

I see Miata I click. I owned 2 NBs, before them a Yaris hatch, and now I'm in an FA5 Civic which is still pretty small for a 4-door. I love my small lightweight cars.

SUVs are literally useless, you can get everything and more out of a wagon, plus 100 cool points

@SealedBiscuit8

People always throw Crossovers into the massive SUV category that they hate. My favorite vehicles are Crossovers/small SUVs (ex. Jeep Cherokee, and the Rx300). Large SUVs and trucks still blind me in Crossovers, but Crossovers are perfect. More practically sized, easier to get in, but is taller and more capable.
