Extra tips from Vi OTP: if you REALLY need the passive shield, don't waste your ult for it, since the shield only procs after you reach the ground, so in that xin zhao clip, if he waited a few more seconds, he would have died. And the second one: although Vi's R makes you dodge CC, it doesn't make you immune to them, so, be careful when ulting from inside a veigar cage for example, because you will get stunned right after your ult (I already questioned Riot about that and they said it is supposed to work like that). Third one: after this video came up, Vi had some changes in her scaling, so an extra tip would be for you to give priority to hitting your Q, since in the late game it could do more damage when fully charged than your ult, and also if the enemies are stacked, it still hits all of them for the same damage. Have fun!

P.S: be careful with some interactions with your ult as well, like thresh Q sometimes can still do those small pulls if you ult in the wrong time, and also skarner (I don't know how it is with the new one), because if he ults you you can just get stuck in place while ulting, and you just start moving again after skarner's ult ends

I was considering signing up for skillcap. I chose Vi as my main. I have to say that she is NOT one of the best duelers. Try going against a Mord or Teemo top. She can't even kill the minions attacking the tower....useless top.


Attacking the enemy back line or even the ADC is kamikaze everytime. Her survivability just isn't there.

Her dmg is too low to be an assassin. I get confused on wtf she's supposed to be.


Her strongest role seems to be a jungle ganker.

In team fights she's NOT a diver....terrible recommendation there...

To be effective in team fights she's only effective at being dmg support...helping to run down enemies that are fleeing.


In the end, you have to play her as a sort of support gank....kinda makes you wonder what's the point of this champ...help a team who's already winning?

Was really trying to make this champ work but it's just embarrassing losing toe to toe so much when you're supposed to be a dueler.

Vi's Q,E has awesome wave clear too, so maintaining pressure with her in SoloQ makesher viables at any rank

The Ability and Auto attack weaving on Vi here is exact like Sett Jg. All his abilitys reset his AA which is really 2 back to back autos. As game goes on Sett is right there with Vi basically identical but Sett can put out more Dmg than Vi and can gain a much much larger shield and live longer.

In terms of skill ceiling, vi's skill ceiling is slightly lower than Zed (Zed has about roughly 6 more combos than Vi to master), and way higher than Ekko (Ekko is very similar to Vi except Ekko doesn't use auto attack animation canceling much, lowering his skill requirement)... all three of these were my mains at some point. If you want to understand where Vi's true skill range is at... she's basically a Riven with all the auto attack cancelling but has a very important skill shot Q that can combo with her R and flash and items like galeforce so that she plays a little bit like Yone or Zed with all the weird combos you can do with her).


I will list her skill tiers to let you see how you measure up. Most people can't even play Vi at a "basic level" in my opinion.


Vi skills (basic Vi play):
Being able to hook or "insec" with Q then flash
Being able to flash then Q to extend reach
Being able to auto animation cancel with E and Q so that you hit/punch enemy 6+ times in under 1.6 seconds.

Vi skills (intermediate Vi play):
Building tanky or more damage depending on macro situation and knowing which items to buy
Lane trades if lane vi that result in net gains... timing with passive ability to make the trade in your favor (like waiting for yasuo passive or Riven E)
Jungle Vi, maximizing passive up time to shield as much as possible to keep hp high.
Knowing when to max W first or when to max Q first in different team comps vs different team comps
Knowing there's a build that let's Vi do beyond true damage after 6 punches on the same target if you animation cancel and punch them 6 times or more in 2 seconds. This build requires black cleaver, Lord Dominiq's and also the right runes to pull off and understanding when to pull out the true damage Vi build.


Vi skills (advanced vi play):
Advanced Vi jungle paths... (a whole minigame in itself)
hitting 3+ enemies with your Q+R damage in one combo
hooking 3+ enemies with your Q+R combo into your team
switching places over wall with an enemy using Q flash and R
switching places with enemy over wall using Q and Flash
Other advanced Vi Combos will include E usage to chain auto resets in between Q and R flash combos
The super hard to pull off 9+ chain punch within 2 seconds (requires low ping) using auto Q auto E auto E auto Q auto (optional R to make it a 10 hit combo without stopping).

Vi is NOT an "easy" champ. She is not simple. She has so much depth. The perception that she has a low skill requirement is false. She requires auto attack canceling like Riven and has fancy combos like Zed.

Looks like 50 games with Vi without watching any tutorials got me to "experienced Vi" level at 2:30 lmao.

Been playing vi for many years now and I have to disagree with the runes of choice. I believe phase rush works best on her. That movement speed always comes in clutch. Always. In every game I play, there’s at least one kill I get that I wouldn’t have gotten if it weren’t for phase rush and at least one time I manage to escape where I otherwise wouldn’t have. Phase rush is incredibly deadly early game. On my first few ganks, thanks to phase rush, even if they blow flash I can catch up to them and kill them which sets me up for a snowball. Why does vi even need hail of blades? Her attack speed is fast enough if you’re resetting aa with abilities properly.

Tips of an OTP Vi that aint on the video, watch all the video and read it all if u want to be good with the champ

Builds:
-DONT BUILD NEITHER ECLIPSE OR TRINITY
-I dont really like hail of blades, vi dont need that attack speed, i think electrocute is way better, it gives u a lot of dmg on ganks and can be the difference between the enemy alive or dead
-On mini runes dont use attack speed, use AD, it helps ur clear a lot
-First back = CDR Boots, if u have 700 extra gold, is better build life ruby and long sword then sheen
-Sterak isnt really needed
-Always buy CDR Boots first > divine sunderer > black cleaver (with those 3 items, u will have 60% CDR, that means Q every 3.24 Seconds) > bramble vest (if full ad or ad feeded, upgrade it to thornail) , if they have oneshot, buy gargoyle stoneplate, but with that build u will barely die if ahead, if u need a magic resist item (facing diana or oneshot), buy malmorthius, if dps ap (mages), buy wits end

Combos:
Q AA E AA R AA E AA Q (if u have cdr boots and lvl 9) always basic after ability
Fast combo with animation cancel is AA E Q and it procs electrocute

Gameplay tips
-Always use R to evade CC, and predict if they will jump a wall so u can follow the target
- R + Q to lockdown a carry is a very good stun, is nearly a 2 seconds CC
-Dont do Q and R to chase an enemy because u will get very far away of ur teammates and they will not peel u in a fight, if u die like that, is ur fault
-You are not a tank, dont enter to the fight like an ornn, if u trade 1x1 for the adc and u trust that ur team can win the teamfight without u, do it, if not, let other people start the fight
-Play with the bushes an hiding, a full charged Q does a ton of damage
-When ganking, hold ur q to bait his flash, a lot of times they panic flash and u can hit them
-Vi is a very good diver because of his shield and triumph, always start dives
